Trump and Clinton have terrible favorability numbers. They both have solid support within their own parties, but awful with the opposite parties, and also with independents. Most mainstream Republicans are scared to death that Trump wins the nomination. He polls much worse than Rubio in a general election, against both Hillary and The Bern...

Romney won more than 90 percent of Republican votes in 2012. Trump is polling in the low 70's. Romney won a narrow victory with independents but still lost the election. Dems project a lower turnout, Republicans see a big surge. No wonder the Dems fear Hillary being their candidate...she isn't energizing her own..Trump has energized a lot of people that don't normally vote. People that usually can predict what will happen are really clueless over this election cycle...

Good analysis. This is about how I see it. I think the Midwest decides this election and the candidate Least identified with "free trade" agreements (which are little about trade and a lot about investment ) wins the Midwest.

the new norm for republican elections will have the candidates go around all the late night shows and do don rickle monologues where they insult and hammer their opponents in bad taste......they will be allowed to work blue.
