Draft (9) franchise legacy "positions" and (1) Wildcard player. You must draft franchise ballpark/s, C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, Starting Pitchers, Relievers, and a WIldcard player. You will have exclusive rights over these players and franchise ballpark/s, except for any stolen WIldcard players.
Your bench may be made up of anyone who qualifies (according to WIS) at a legacy position you have drafted. For example in the sample roster listed below, any Catcher that appears on Team "A"s (5) teams must qualify as a Reds Catcher.
For purposes of this league a starting pitcher will be defined as any pitcher with a minimum of 150 IP or greater and a reliever will be defined as any pitcher with a maximum of 149 IP or less.
The rules are as follows:
- (1) season at a time starting with the highest cap and ending with lowest cap.
- (16) teams (open to more teams pending interest levels)
- (5) leagues/5 caps: $120m, $110m, $100m, $90m, and $80m
- (10) round snake draft (order determined at random)
- Divisions chosen at random
- No DH, AAA, Waiver wire, trades, injuries, repeat players(Wildcard excluded)/seasons, twisted seasons, or clones
- If a player has played multiple positions with multiple franchises, and you select both franchise positions he qualifies for, you may use that player at each of the positions he qualifies for, but not in the same season. For example, using Babe Ruth as a Yankees OF and a Red Sox SP is allowed in separate seasons. *However, for example, using Jimmie Foxx at Catcher and 1B for the A's in separate seasons is not allowed (unless chosen as Wildcard).
- Other than your wildcard player, you may only use (1) instance of each player across all five leagues. For example, if you drafted Yankees outfielders, you could only use Babe Ruth once, therefore not in any more than (1) season.
- There is one exception to this rule (the Wildcard player ), who you may "steal" from another owner anytime after Round 1 is complete. However, after each round you will get to protect one player from your legacy players pool to prevent him from being selected as a Wildcard. The Wildcard player must appear on each of your 5 teams. Once an owner has lost a player in a single round that owner can no longer be raided in that particular round. Ballparks cannot be raided. When selecting your wildcard player, please specify the franchise you are selecting the wildcard player from: e.g. Babe Ruth - Yankees.
- The Lou Boudreau question - if a player qualifies at multiple positions you may choose to play him wherever you would like. You may only add him to your roster as long as he has a WIS fielding grade at the position you have drafted. E.G. If you draft Indians Catchers, you could add '48 Lou Boudreau to one of your teams and play him at SS. Flexibility is your friend. Remember that he may only be used once.
- Protect one player after each round is complete. Submit via site mail. Wildcard players may not be stolen until at least following round after being drafted. This will give owners fair chance to protect a player of their choosing.
- You must use 5 separate seasons of your Wildcard player. You cannot repeat seasons in different leagues. For example, if you use '27 Ruth in Season 1, you may not use him again in Seasons 2-5.
- Wildcard player cannot be selected until Round 2 and may be selected before his respective legacy position is selected. For example, you could draft Ted Williams in the 2nd round before the Red Sox OF are selected.
- Franchise ballparks may appear more than once during the 5 seasons
For purposes of this league, only Active franchises will be recognized:
***Teams who have played in multiple cities under multiple names are eligible e.g. Baltimore Orioles also played as St Louis Browns. Therefore if you draft Orioles OF you could use any OF who played for the Browns as well.***
