Cincinnati Reds - 1902-1911 ballpark...The dimensions are listed at an eye-popping 450/475/510/475/450.

Except I can't find anywhere online to corroborate those numbers. They're typically found to be a still spacious, yet far smaller:
360/418/400/375/450.

Odd.

Wait...I'm guessing they wanted to get a 450 ft right field foul pole into the game somehow, and in doing so it skewed team #s due to the crazy park dimensions. So they just normalized it.

I love baseball.

Back to work.

Interesting picture of the park. The odd configuration was due to a fire in the old park, so the grandstands from the old stadium were used in right field for the new stadium. Also there were carriage stalls under the luxury boxes so the wealthy fans could just drive right into the stadium, park their carriage and walk up to their seats.

Well there wasn't much power at all back then, but I can imagine having some inside the park home runs.

Perhaps the best named sports ballpark of all time. I think the current Oakland ballpark might have the worst name of all time.

Makes you realize why batting averages were so high as well. Outfielders likely had to play where some OF walls are these days, just to make sure every hit to the OF didn't become a triple or inside-the-park HR. That would've resulted in way more singles and doubles.

I have a theme league team and I am using Palace of the Fans. Great for triples players and A+ range OF.
