I vote to accommodate, because in the old days, the default was closer to 1 unless the person indicated otherwise. I don't think we quite explained that this default no longer applies. In the future though, we should unambiguously lay out what will happen if returning owner fails mention their drafting preference in time.

as far as i can remember ive never used a default of closer to 1

i went back to the last time this happened(draft league L) and jkaye and 98 didnt choose closer to 1/24...they were slotted in last just like milest and leibo...got no complaints that time

it happened to scud and mike the draft before(XLIX) as well

FIRST: consideration should be given to having Chamberlain's 66-67 season BANNED --- it's clear by the championships won, that single season creates a disproportionate - almost predetermined - outcome.

SECOND: having Chamberlain's 66-67 season BANNED would create competitive balance - and, I suspect, more strategy for whom to draft with the #1 pick - which would create other related drafting strategies.

THIRD: reading eleibowitz's rants reminds me of the 1st grader who quits, and then takes the ball home because they didn't get their way. Given the growing waiting list - I say good riddance, and welcome to any new owners.

PS: all the fuss over what? 5$ Really - WOW

FOURTH: I suspect this is all my fault because of my continual reminders to those who procrastinate in their selections. - while others are forced to wait for no reason other than a clear lack of common courtesy.

Wait, is their issue that the default isn't closer to 1 or that they weren't given enough time?

Great stuff! Let's also ban Curry's 15-16 and LeBrons 12-13. And all other first round picks. And the second/third rounders.

Well, I guess my memory is clouded by passage of time and the fact that I had been in so many different draft leagues. Still, if many of us had such misconception, then it may be better to put it in writing that returning owners who don't post their preference in time may have their slots determined for them by the Commish. That way, everyone of us can point to the rule when something similar happens again.

i don't think you're being unfair.

i think you should post your preference when you sign up or re-up. you should be allowed to edit your preference up until you pick, but if you don't post a preference, i think it's on you.

that said, i don't have a problem with restarting the draft, nor any sort of preference. my gut tells me people would be open to restarting, as well as quick to re-pick.

honestly, eleibowitz and miles are both experienced owners. they can win from the spots they have.
Not the point Bds done it same way for years and now the rules have changed without notice. Wanted to see where I came out in the lottery before I made my choice. But lottery results were not posted prior creating draft order.

I know DH maybe busy but changing rules midstream is not right. And for me I'll be happy with closer to 24

WELCOME TO THE NEW AMERICA - once again the select few create a problem - blame others - all the while the very problem they complain about could have been avoided had they merely referenced their preference ---- obviously advanced thinking is not a priority for some.

ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO REWARD INEPTNESS OR PLAIN STUPIDITY.

How difficult is it to identify a preference -- apparently way too complicated for some.

Let's have a do over so others can feel good about themselves.

I guess Penn still holding a grudge against me. Nice to see rational opinions

I can't help reference the DUNNING-KRUGER EFFECT -- "if your incompetent, you can't know you're incompetent"

Kinda like "stupid is, what stupid does"

Yeah!!! This is exactly like American politics so let's talk about that. You're a liberal right?
5/23/2016 7:33 PM
jt7king -- BRILLANT - obviously you missed the point - which isn't surprising - last time I checked - and the record substantiates, neither Curry nor Lebron dominated the championships , let alone having a single season of theirs dominate.

Logic, or simple connect the dots, clearly isn't one of your strong points nor is the OBVIOUS.

" now the rules have changed without notice"

what rule changes did i make? ive always slotted those that dont pick closer to 1/24 last...and you were absolutely given notice.....

im waiting on 2 more owners to join/drop...once they do i will be running the lottery and setting the draft order...so if you want to choose closer to 1 or 24, do it now

in previous drafts there may have been more of a time gap between when the lottery is run and when i post the final draft order....if this is the issue you have then i can understand...but that is why i sent that sitemail, to warn you that i would be setting the draft order as soon as i could

Oh, I'm sorry to offend you pen. I understand the socialist agenda you're pushing. It is unfair that the top percent of the league has an advantage, we should take it away so that everyone has an equal chance to win. Your liberal bias is shining through.

The problem I see is that when you remove Wilt the next dominate players (LeBron/Curry) will then have the advantage. So let's eliminate them? And then we might as well take out Shaq/K Malone/ Kareem because now they have an advantage.
