The 1965 Icon Progressive, which began back in 1946, has voted to expand from its current 12-team format to a 16-team 4/4 divisional league. We hope to expand in 1966 or 1967, depending on when we have four interested owners. We need two NL teams and two AL teams.

The basis of the league is that players may only play for a franchise for which he played in real life. This means there is already plenty of talent available to new owners. For example, grab the Pirates and you already have Stargell, Clemente, and Mazeroski. Take the Twins, Killebrew, Allison, and Oliva are yours. I'll post additional information below.

Active Franchises:

NL: Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants

AL: Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees

Possible Expansion Franchises: (Check below for a list of automatic keepers)

NL: Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros, New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates
AL: California Angels, Kansas City Athletics, Minnesota Twins, Washington Senators

Basic Rules:

Salary Cap - None

AAA - 12/6 Below Average (Any Career Keeper/Team Icon with fewer than 60 IP/ 150 ABs may be placed in AAA or on the MLB roster to start the season).

DH – None

Trades - Allowed and almost needed. Teams can only trade for eligible players though. Draft picks may be traded 2 years in advance. Players to be named later (future random AAA players) may also be traded.

IR - Unlimited. Restricted to any player without a WIS season, or any CK/TI that did not play for your franchise at all during that season (at owner’s discretion).

WW - No

Keepers - Unlimited. Any players who were assigned to your roster as career keepers, team icons etc. must be kept for the duration of their career.

Subsequent Seasons Draft Order - Will be determined at the transaction deadline (120 games). 40 wins are needed to qualify for a top 3 pick. Teams that do not reach 40 wins will be slotted from the 4th spot on by most wins. The rest of the draft (including top 3 picks) is inverse order of record. The first pick in rounds 2-4 belongs to the team with the fewest wins and continues in inverse order.

Specific League Rules:

Keeper Rules - All players that fall in to the 3 keeper categories below will be forced on their respected franchise. They can not be traded or cut.

CAREER KEEPERS - Any player who has played his entire career for one team (or entire WiS career) will belong to that team. If a player has played for several teams but has only racked up 50 AB or 25 IP for one team he will also belong to the team for which he played the bulk of his career. So if Player A plays four full seasons for the Dodgers, then goes to the Cubs where he only nets 30 ABs and is traded to the Mets where he gets another 30 he will be still be considered a Dodgers Career Keeper.

TEAM ICONS - Any player whose first ten or more eligible WIS seasons are with the same team, and who has had no more than 3 WIS seasons with other teams (including defunct teams) will be designated a Team Icon and belong to the team whom he played 10 years for.

-Any player who racked up more than 25 IP/50 AB with a single active franchise, regardless of seasons with a defunct franchise (Pirates, Cubs, Mets, Colt 45s, Athletics, Twins, Senators, Angels) will be the property of the active franchise. Any player failing to get 25IP or 50AB with any active francise will be defunct and not in our league.

- If a player is traded during his 10th season he will still qualify and that season will not be used against his 3.

- If a player is traded during his first WIS season but has compiled say 30 ABs for Team A and 30 for Team B, teams can use this season to count towards the 10.

- If a player plays 11 seasons for team A, then for the next 4 seasons picked up 30 ABs for 2 different teams each season (so 60 total each year), he will not be eligible.

- Any players being kept this way is allowed to be put on IR any season he did not play for your franchise.

- Any Team Icon being may be placed on IR any season he did not play for your franchise.

- Any player who played every game for an expansion/defunct team or has fewer than 25 IP/50 AB with a single active franchise will not be eligible to be drafted by any team.

------

*Every other player who does not fall in to one of these rules will be eligible to be drafted by any team he appeared in 1 game for (any team that shows up on his B-R page at the time of the draft).

There will be an expansion draft prior to the rookie draft. 12 players or picks to help fill rosters the the expNsion teams will own the first four picks in the draft based on future payroll.

Outstanding! I'll add you to the forum to look around. Feel free to chime in to the expansion discussion and let me know if your preference is for 1966 or 1967.

AAA / Optioned:
None

Injured Reserve:
P Dennis Higgins (STL, WSA, CHW, CLE)

You can keep the White Sox, or if you wanted to, we have a process to move teams and could transition them into any of the open AL teams. We do have a few other teams moving in 1968 so you could join that process. The open spots are Washington Senators (Rangers,) California Angels, or if you wanted to move to Kansas City or Seattle (Milwaukee) a season early that's ok too.

The White Sox are in great shape and the team should be a contender for the AL West title for quite some time.

I'm a White Sox fan, so that makes the team and league intriguing. Just so I clearly understand the rules, Someone played their whole career for your team is automatically yours and you have to keep them forever even when they suck. Someone like Frank Thomas would be a WS Icon and automatically on the team. The draft is just to draft the players that played for several franchises, and you can only pick a player if they played for your franchise at some time. Once you draft a player, you can keep that player as long as you want even if they played for another franchise, but if you cut him, he goes back into the draft and any of the teams he played for can draft him. Is that correct?
9/24/2016 6:11 PM
That's correct. I added you to our private forum so you can check it out. Feel free to ask any other questions and the team is yours if you want them. We'd love to have you. The White Sox currently sit at 97-53, have an 8 game lead on the Tigers in the NL West and the best record in both leagues. Due to the limited draft classes for each team trading is hot and heavy and an 80-85mil salary is plenty enough to compete.
