In the 80M theme, there are quite a few 85 Cardinals teams still alive in the playoffs. Also a couple of 85 Dodgers and 94 Expos teams still playing,

In the 100M theme, the deadball Cubs teams are having a bit of success as well.

There is still one round 1 series left to be decided, but 6 teams have already advanced to the World Series. Currently, 569 is the 24th highest maximum score possible, so those with over 569 points are a lock to advance to round 2.

Since the 24th highest point total currently is 549 points, anybody with a max score of below 549 is eliminated.

No surprise, but what a loaded field for Round 2

Not to mention some high quality owners that aren't going to make it into round 2. This tournament seems to get tougher every year.

bardin (pre-tourney rank = 8th) has played all 13 years of this tournament and this is only the third time he's failed to qualify (has eight top 15 finishes).

dougpalm (7th) has played 6 years and this is his first miss.

tjefferson (4th) played four previous tournaments with finishes 4, 4, 10, 11. He is at risk of not making it. He really needs to go deep with his last playoff team.

The biggest surprise of the tournament is glowguy. His pre-season ranking of 70th doesn't seem out of line with previous tournament finishes of 84th and 55th. He's done an amazong job, with 5 teams winning 89+ games. Clearly, doctorcc was ranked too low (40th) but that is partly due to his 53rd place finish two years ago (his only tournament appearance). Based on just his sim winning% (.561), he would've been ranked in the top 20 without that mediocre finish in 2014.

That being said, it's always tough to get an accurate rank for new tournament players. For example, #10 jschirn (.573) and #13 deuce_duece (.568) look like they were reasonably ranked as they both are locks for round 2. But then you have #15 robbman (.575), #16 frozen_rope (.564), both who will finish in the bottom 20. That's why I put more weight on tournament performance, once that's available.
