you’ll use is another 2 pts so that’s 10.5 points – in theory enough to escape the team penalty but I’d wager that if you divided your attempts drafted by your minutes drafted and multiplied that number by 5 and then multiplied that number by 48 you would get nowhere near the 95-100+ attempts you’ll be putting up in game play

This makes my head hurt!

drafted attempts/drafted minutes = average attempts per minute - take that figure and multiply by 48 minutes and multiply 5 (players on the floor) and you will get something like drafted attempts per game
Or you could just do FGA/82, as a season is 82 games long (unless I'm missing something?)
I think you're missing that a drafted sim roster has a variable minutes pool so someone who drafts 22000 minutes may have 8200 attempts but not all of those minutes are going to make it to the floor

your method leaves you thinking you have 100 attempts per while mine (though still not exact - the extra/unused minutes might be low usage guys pulling down the average for instance) results in 89 attempts
Ah, you're right... I did forget that little hiccup

Okay bds9992 is you are going to rub it in about my beloved Blazers then why not add some more history to it?

1976 Blazers trade the rights to Moses Malone to Buffalo for a first round pick who then immediately trade him to Houston for 2 first round picks.
1978 Blazers draft M____ T______ with the # 1 pick instead of the draft eligible Larry Bird.
1984 Blazers Draft S__B____ over MJ, and Charles Barkley. Although B____ did have a 20 point 24 rebound game when healthy against Kareem in 1985 I believe the same year that Kareem was the MVP of the finals and the Lakers won the title.

BTW I actually kind of like Anfernee Hardaway next to Kobe Bryant on your team. I won the title with Hardaway in the backcourt with D Wade in this league. Of course for SIM purposes D Wade is far superior to Kobe Bryant.

don't forget drafting a 65 year old in a wheel chair instead of Kevin Durant

i'm aware of the history. you forget LaRue Martin over Dr. J and Gervin in 1972, Bill Walton over Gervin and Jamaal Wilkes in 1974 (technically speaking, given Walton's injury history, although we know he was fantastic in limited minutes and brought the Blazers their only title in 1977), and Papa Klay over Larry Bird in 1978

he mentioned Klay's dad

In 1972 Dr J was already signed by the Virgin Squires wasn't he? The big mistake was drafting L___ M_____ instead of Bob McAdoo. Didn't the NBA wait until 1974 to draft Gervin?

The NBA drafted Gervin twice, which is kind of funny. Doc was drafted with the 12th pick by the Bucks, because the NBA could still draft players signed to the ABA. He almost left the Squires for the Hawks, but passed on the chance after something happened with Pistol Pete.

actually, it seems I'm wrong about Gervin in '72, but not with Doc. Hawks bit comes from his autobiography
