Need 1 for 1918 Career League-filled !! Topic

The 1918 Diamond Legends (Career) Progressive League needs one replacement owner-see the post below for statistics on the 1918 hitters and pitchers.

I have been informed that one of our owners in the 1917 league will not return for the 1918 season. He has been an excellent owner.

In the Diamond Legends (or Career) WIS leagues, players use their average career statistics. In this specific league, that will mean using their average career statistics in a progressive from their first year of eligibility starting in 1901 (currently 1918) through their last year of WIS eligibility.
General Managers must be able to deal with a salary cap of $80 million. Owners must use the actual ballpark used by their franchise in 1918.

Annual drafts will be in inverse order of finish except that for the first round only there will be a random weighted lottery among the 4 teams with the worst record (4 chances for the team with the worst record, 3 chance for 2nd worst etc.). The tiebreaker will be run differential (runs scored less runs allowed) with the team with the worst run differential drafting higher.

Add/Drop Round
Starting at 11:00 AM EDT on the day following the conclusion of the annual draft, there will be an add/drop round on a first come, first served basis. During the add/drop round, a player dropped by one owner may be added by another owner if desired.

Players drafted during the current year's annual draft MAY NOT be dropped during the add/drop round. This includes a player drafted and subsequently traded.

Please note that one of the differences Diamond Leagues have is the $80 million salary cap. Review the salary cap violation rules note above and the last paragraph in the Rules as well.

I think that one of the strengths of the salary cap is that the league has been very balanced. 7 different owners have won championships in the 12 seasons completed and only one team has ever won more than 100 games. That team happened to be mine in season 1 due to a very good draft, but I went until season 8 before I won another. Only once has a team won consecutive titles.

Please indicate interest below. Please be sure you are comfortable with and understand the salary cap rules, and also since this is a progressive I request that you not join unless you expect to be able to participate for at least 5 seasons.

Interested owners will be given immediate access to the league's private forum, although I think all the information you may need is posted above or below.

When you decide to take a team, please so indicate and select a team from the list in the opening post.

The team available is the Brooklyn BallBreakers (the name can be changed). The team currently has a record od 71-74 with 17 games left in the 1917 season.

Brooklyn had only 1 player retire after the 1917 season, P Frank Allen.

8/31/2016 10:12 AM
The team has a good pitching staff, led by Dick Rudolph and Dazzy Vance. The hitters are led by Ty Cobb, who still has 11 seasons left in his career.

Here is a chance to join a unique, competitive and challenging league-not your average progressive league and definitely oriented to experienced, capable managers !!
8/31/2016 10:15 AM
Brooklyn will be drafting somewhere between 2nd and 10th-there are 9 teams with 71-79 wins with 14 games left. Brooklyn has 73 wins.

This is a 12 team league, only 1 team has more than 83 wins (94 currently) and only 1 team has more than 80 losses (94 currently).

As mentioned above, the salary cap has led to an EXTREMELY well balanced and competitive league-no team has been able to achieve a long term dynasty.

The Brooklyn team has been taken.
