I got a message from MLB stating that they are shocked and deeply saddened at the loss of Marlins SP Jose Fernandez, 24, in a boating accident.

NOT TO BE CRASS, BUT I'M IN THE FRIGGING PLAYOFFS! HE WAS GONNA START TODAY OR MONDAY FOR ME!

Ye should probably make other plans.

If we're gonna be crass, good thing I had MLB the Show 15. Oscar Taveras and Jose Fernandez were on my franchise team.

But for real, this can't be happening. I need more details. Easily one of my favorite players just gone, just like that. You go to sleep watching baseball, and wake up to hear this? It's like a dream

Looks like he and his boys were speeding around in the dark. Pretty dumb move. Sad for his girl and unborn child.

So sad.

He - might - be the best player to ever die during his career.

Addis Joss died from tubercular meningitis while still playing. He was 31 but I think he was better than Jose. Though Jose was so young and had such a bright future ahead of him. Very tragic.

Ed Delahanty died accidentally at age 36. He was drunk and was kicked off a train. He fell into the river and went over Niagara Falls. Some say it was suicide. He may have been suffering from depression which is a terrible mental illness that takes many lives.

Racing around in a boat at 3:00 a.m. was not smart. Very sad. I.also heard his girlfriend is expecting his baby.

Roberto Clemente?

He may have been doing somethng dumb to cause this, but, that is part of being a young man. Baseball has lost a great talent. A real shame.
Clemente was killed in his playing days but somewhat past his prime years, also a shame.

LYMAN BOSTOCK

Hey, idiots talking about "being out at 330 speeding on a boat". The Coast Guard found the boat at 3:30, that's NOT when the accident happened. They could have been dead for hours. So show some respect for a man who did everything the right way, who was probably a better American (in 2 years no less) than any of us.

Baseball just won't won't be as fun without him. The kid was a better person than a player, and he was a future Hall of Famer.

He was my favorite player, and I am a lifelong Pirates fan.
