"P.O.R.K" - the Progressive Optional Rookie Keeper League is looking for a replacement owner. I am currently setting up the draft thread for 1965/1995. We are looking for a replacement owner for the "Red O's" who play out of Camden Yards. They are made of the 1965 Red Sox and the 1995 Orioles. You can change the team name, but they have to play in either Fenway or Camden. The owner said they left for personal reasons.
The 65 Red Sox / 95 Orioles had the third worst record and will have a high draft pick throughout the draft.
League works like this: everyone drafted either a 63 team or 93 team (then reverse order for the opposite) and had to choose a 25 man roster based on those two teams. Going into each progressive season (64/94 was next) they had to keep AT LEAST 25 players from the previous years roster and any Rookies from the 64 or 94 teams that they wanted to keep (hence the name Progressive Optional Rookie Keeper league). So you can tell going into each season what rookies are coming in. eg. Late 90's Orioles can expect Armando Benitez and BJ Ryan and Late 60's Red Sox can expect Rico Petrocelli and Bill Lee, Jim Bunning and Sparky Lyle. But fear not! There is a free agent draft every season, made up of Rookies who aren't kept plus any free agents from the eight 1995 franchises left untaken plus any dropped or non taken players from 1965 or 1995.
Teams can have up to 30 players on their roster, so if you keep 25 you get to draft 5, keep 26 you draft 4 etc. So there is a 5 player AAA squad. It is in an owner's interest to have a full AAA squad to help plan for future seasons.
Red O's (Red Sox 65 / Orioles 95) play in the AL and have a DH. NL teams have no DH. There is interleague play. We are a 20 team league.
All the games are competitive. I am happy to forward anyone the rules.
Cheers, LJ
