What role would you use this guy for Topic

I have a pitcher on my roster that has the following attributes
Dur - 24, Sta - 53, Con - 82, VsL - 68, VsR - 90, P1-85, P2-75, P3-39, P4-72

I was thinking of using him as my 5th starter or LRA

How many pitches per outing would he get on avg?

Thanks

If he's one of your best pitchers, SP. Set his PC at 50/60 and you'll maximize his innings.

I wouldn't start him. I'm not ok with 5 innings per start.

Setup A. Enter game in 7th. 35 TP, 50 MC. Pull rating of 1 or 2. He'll get you 130+ IP easily. If you are good with 5 inning starts go for it.

If he's one of your best pitchers, you need to maximize his innings. Since Mahoney, as a starter, doesn't get 130+ innings when I control his appearances, I'd dispute SuA will get your guy 130+ innings easily. If someone has an example of a 24/53 in SuA getting that many innings, I'd like to see it.

Player Profile: Dario Griffin is 24/65ish and I was able to get 190 and 182 IP, Player Profile: Tony Bonilla is 28/58 and I was able to get 187... but 24/53 is really tough. In a 5-man rotation, you could set Target PC to 70 and Max PC to 75 and that should manage his stamina well enough, you'd probably get about 140-150 IP out of that, a bunch of 5.0 IP wins but most likely lots of no-decisions as a starter.

As a LR/SU, you would have to restrict his max pitch count to something like 25 to have him be 100% on back-to-back outings, and after the 2nd outing he would need 1-3 days of rest to get back to 100%. Under those circumstances you could maybe/probably get him to 100+ IP, but almost definitely not 130+. Typically low-dur guys require lots more rest-days, which reduces their overall Games Played (and IP by proxy)

The guy on my team I was thinking of was Diaz. His Stam/Dur is very close to the guy in question, but his IP was not as high the last two years as I remembered. I may have confused him with my other Setup A, Andujar. You can see I'm getting around 150 IP the last couple of seasons with him and his Stam/Dur is 39/63.

I feel really good about my bullpen with just those two guys. I can get 240 innings of very high quality from those two players which is such a luxury.

I think if I didn't have Andujar on my roster, I could get 130 IP from Diaz in a Setup A role. There is hardly a question in my mind, because Andujar gets so many IP that would have gone to Diaz. If Andujar can get 150 IP, Diaz could get 130 IP.

32 is a lot more than 24 in DUR. This is who I was thinking of. 24/43 and couldn't get 100 IP as a SuA. Got over 100 as a SP.

Just personal preference for me, I wouldn't use that guy as a starter ever. Even if the evidence is rock solid that I'd get more IP with him as a SP, I'd still use him as SuA.

I had to stop using him as a SP because it was wearing out my bullpen with him and Mahoney going 3-5 every time thru the rotation.

This guy won me a title using some advice Mike gave me. I started him most of the season. And he was diesel in the playoffs when I shifted him to LRA.

It's mostly how you build your staff. I built mine around The Great Jimmy Powell and Mahoney. I had Kyle Anderson, a big innings eater, as my SP3 and Castillo as SP4. My SP5 was a solid guy but I didn't have my bullpen right. I couldn't take Mahoney and Castillo pitching 3-5 innings. So I had to change. But, if you can, put your best pitchers, if they can throw 50 pitches, at SP. Three great innings is better than 1 great inning.

What kind of pitch counts do you set a 31/58 dur/stamina at? Player Profile: Russell Henderson - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

For me - I'd start him at 65/75 and then make 5 PC adjustments after each start til I found a balance between how long he could go without being overly fatigued and his effectiveness during the last inning.
