Ortiz hit more home runs than Mickey Mantle.
Why are Boston fans still bringing that up as if it were relevant to anything? Big Papi led the league in HRs once. Mantle did it 4 times. Ortiz led the league in OBP, SLG, and OPS once each. Mantle led the league in OBP 3 times, SLG 4 times, and OPS 6 times. There's a 31 point gap in career OPS+, leaving Mantle 6th all time and Ortiz tied for 69th with, among others, Larry Walker and Ryan Braun. Even if you ignore the difference in defense and baserunning, the hitting gap is massive.
At least if you're going to make stupid Red Sox-homer statements, keep it honest enough to point out that Ortiz has more career HRs than Ted Williams. Blew away Carl Yastrzemski. Heck, he was actually a better hitter than Yaz. Good for him.
