Here is a preview of the available teams:
The former
Atlanta franchise - This team has struggled after a strong 1st season. The offense is powered by Doug Clifton (38, 116, .268) & Enrique Perez (29, 84, .261) however with a .248 team batting average, they had little help. On the mound, Alex Zhang (11-13, 3.09), Andre Solis (15-10, 3.37), & closer Paulie Daniels (26/30, 2.77) lead a strong group that finished with a 3.86 ERA. Another solid starter that can eat innings would make these hurlers even more dynamic. Unfortunately the offense needs a major overhaul or the hurlers will watch their efforts wasted again. Good rebuild for a vet yet a novice could probably handle the controls without doing much damage.
The former
Indianapolis franchise - It's been 2 seasons since the last playoff appearance for this team. 4 players hit 20 or more HRs but no one drove in more than 79 RBIs, and no regular hit over .278. Hurlers Bernie Rivera (9-9, 2.81) & Torey Toca (13-9, 3.99) could use a couple of additions to the rotation and Dorian Mills (7/11, 2.41) should be handed the fulltime closer job to help cut eliminate the 23 blown saves of last season. A few tweaks to the pitching staff should straighten things out quickly, while a complete overhaul of the position players will most likely mean that this team is 2-3 seasons away from any hopes of contending. If you want to reshape a team this would be a great project for you, however this could also be a great team for a newbie to cut his teeth on.
The former
Cheyenne franchise - 6 straight playoff appearances and 1st place finishes make this a team ready to compete. The dynamic duo of Pedro Zorrilla (43, 107, .278) & Gregg Stewart (34, 86, .250) swing the big bats but could use a couple of high OBP types to set the table for them. All 5 starters had 10 or more wins with Anibal Flores (19-6, 3.07) leading the way. While closer Fernando Lopez converted 30 saves, his 5.04 showed him to be less than stellar as does his 11 blown saves. A strong leadoff hitter and dependable closer would move this team from merely making the playoffs into a contender for the postseason hardware. This team is best suited for a veteran owner that knows the nuances of the games and how to make small moves that create big changes for the better.
