I am working on signing my players after my first free agency period, some of the guy on my major league roster are really bad compared to some on my minor league rosters. Should I move some of these guys up? Would this mess a lot of things up? Some of the guys I wanna demote have been in the majors for a while it looks like but aren't rated that high compared to some of my minor leaguers

You could try waiving the subpar MLers if you don't want them and hope another team claims them, freeing up cap space. If the minor leaguers are better, play them. Demote or designate worse ML guys as necessary to give your team the best chance to win games.

Also depends on the overall state of your team. Are you rebuilding? You might not want to rush prospects to the majors unless they are ready. You might need to sign some stopgap veterans to short-term contracts to plug holes.

If you are new to HBD don't do anything without using a mentor. What you think is good or bad may not be. Overalls tend to fool new players

Look's like I'm gonna be needing a mentor lol

Knotts and King might be your only hitters worth keeping.

Cantu and Long are good enough at catching to keep.

You don't have a SS or a CF. You can suffer thru Okijima at 3B/2B until you get someone better.

In short, you have 5 pitchers(one SP) and 5 position players who could play on a contender. The rest are filler.

Good lord that team has been terrible. You should have some prospects. Anybody with 3 pro seasons should be considered for your BL team. You can clean house and not be in worse shape.

You've got a few players in the minors who'll help, Guitterez in AAA could play a passable SS, for instance. Not much pitching help.

There are no "hard" rules on what constitute BL-quality but I use 70 splits(for both pitching and hitting) as BL average. Start looking there. And, considering your current state, consider platoons because you don't have many 70/70 split hitters.

If you have any specific questions, shoot me a sitemail.

My first piece of advice that I give all n00bs, if you're not sure, don't do it. You can dig a huge hole by making dumb trades and/or FA signings.

Good luck with the rebuild Masong. Focus on acquiring prospects and developing those prospects you have. Make sure your big league potential prospects get to the appropriate level and playing, everything else is filler. Ned Spangenberg should be a boss in a few years.

One more important thing for a new owner. If your team is that bad, you will be drafting high for a few seasons. So spend more on college and high school scouting so you get better info from your scouts and you will draft better. If you make bad choices in the draft your team will flounder longer.

Also dump any deadweight with a high contract whenever possible. Whether it be by not resigning guys that aren't worth the contract or trading away big contracts for good prospects.

Don't get discouraged because your first season your team will probably suck bad. If you dump the deadweight and reduce spending on bad players by your second season you should start signing a few decent free agents to short reasonable contracts that can have your team start winning a few more games.

Then once your good prospects start arriving in a few seasons you will see more light a the end of the tunnel. Stay the course and be patient. You cannot turn it around in year one. Don't take on any long term contracts unless the player is young and good. Sign players to one year filler deals so you have flexibility in the future.

As it's your first season, I'd recommend focusing on what type of player works/sucks. Player acquisition is secondary because, at this point, you only know who's good or terrible. You win "in the middle" as everyone knows who is an all-star and who belongs in AA.
