I agree. I just do not think it takes anything away from the season. AND, the contract has six years left to justify its existence. The only issue worth talking about is SCOREBOARD !
Agreed. If I was a Cubs fan, I wouldn't be the least bit worried about Heyward's contract right now. My whole point in this thread was revisiting the argument from last offseason for all the people that said it was a fantastic signing. Others twisted it into a debate on whether or not it hurt the Cubs.

Really? This is the center of your world? I was going to Cub games since Roy Smalley was the SS. You on the other hand spend your life jerking off to internet porn sites
How can I spend my life doing one thing but also have something else entirely be the center of my world?

please unfold that Leon Durham poster you have hidden under your bed, imagine you were the ball going through his legs one last time and rid yourself of the anger once and for all...

This is a silly argument. I have no idea what we are arguing about. Cubs won and the rest of this is just so much noise

IT'S A GREAT SIGNING! He contributed to a World Series win!

Maybe your team didn't win a World Series after coughing up a bad contract and millions of dollars, so you don't know....

But the Jason Heyward signing and the Barry Zito signing and the Edgar Renteria signing .... ALL good deals.

Because the teams won the World Series. If you had asked the Cubs to give $180M to Buddy Biancalana, in exchange for a WS title, they would've done it in a heartbeat. Maybe it's revisionist, but the deal has paid off ALREADY.

BS he contributed. To say the team wouldn't have won without Heyward's little "talking to" is ridiculous. You're grasping at straws for anything to make that contract look good.

I'm a fan of Chris Davis. I like having him on the O's. But if they'd won the WS, I'd still be saying it's a bad contract.

That's the beauty of Theos talents....he can throw bad money at bad players and it won't matter at all....he can throw enough money at good players to make up for it. Theo would not win a title in SD or Milwaukee. He is smart enough to take jobs in deep pocket organizations.

...if Chris Davis went 12 for 19 with 5 HRs and 13 RBIs in the World Series you might think differently....

I suppose it's possible.

But if he hit .150 with 5 Ks and no BBs in 20 postseason PAs, I definitely wouldn't.

I wonder if Cubs fans hate the Heyward signing?

I'm a die hard Cubs fan, watched and listened to on the radio so many games this year. Heyward literally cannot handle a fastball at 93+ if you put in up and in (I'm talking about in the zone). All he can do is foul it off. And then, after about 3 pitches up and in with the count 1-2 he is in swing mode and cannot hold off on the breaking ball down low. He needs to get better with the fastball and I think he will.

There you go. Dumbest question of the day. After 108 years the contract is the last thing on any Cub fans mind

It can be a bad contract, but a good signing.
11/4/2016 1:11 PM
on Heyward's part, sure. He thinks it was a fantastic signing.

Heyward will be better next year because it would be hard to be worse. However, before it is over...the Cubs WILL regret that contract more than they already do...he will never produce at that level....but then again, neither did Soriano...
