Does the roster have to make sense position wise at all. Or for example could you submit a roster with 12 centers hoping to get 1 or 2?

But, what happens if you get more than you need?
All of the players you get MUST be on all future rosters.
You wouldnt want to play the season with 7-8 centers.

i think the concept is that you reap what you sow. don't draft seven centers if you don't want seven centers.

It might be a gutsy strategy, but it is 100% legal
