Has anyone ever seen a P that did not play in a game get injured? a SP at that....

Off-field ("non-baseball") injuries do exist in this game. They don't specify, so you can speculate. Dog bite? Cocaine binge? Domestic dispute?

Or did he pinch-run or pinch-hit?

Did he go boating or fly in an airplane?

My guess is you're talking about a longer-term injury. It has happened. WifS explained it as he hurt his arm in his last outing and the medical diagnosis came days later. I doubt that's the case, seems pretty deep, but it does mirror real-life. A guy pitches, his arm is sore, maybe he skips a start and then the team sends him for a MRI. He's diagnosed with a torn rotator 8 days after his last appearance.

No he didn't pinch hit or run nor do I think he went boating and we didn't change opponents so hopefully he didn't fly either

LOL one of my resting pitchers just picked up an "injury" while sitting in the bullpen. Out two days with "dizziness."

The injuries are sometimes hilarious.

My fsvourite was a guy who was hit in the leg by a pitch and somehow broke his finger....... what?

Maybe he tried to stop it with his hand

Or fell down.

the broken finger was from when he punched the pitcher.

I got the same thing yesterday for what I believe is the first time. My catcher played the whole game, but was diagnosed with a stiff neck afterwards.

probably from turning his head all the time to check out hot chicks in the stands

probably got hurt pulling up his underwear

why has this just become so common?
