MAYBE (I have no way of knowing for sure) a lower cap would help owners feel more teams could be competitive.

You might be right. Personally i love this format. I love the ability to get different players that were part of the franchise. But if there's not enough interest - you've got to give the people what they want

I would take a second team.

We could throw some ideas out there to see which would generate interest. While a lower cap could even things out, sometimes it can scare owners away because it's harder.

We've had 5 different teams win in 7 seasons. How much more competitive do we need to be?

I don't think you mess with the formula here, this is the right cap. For every owner you attract by raising or lowering it, you scare off two others. only suggestion I would have is to officially allow merging of a couple of franchises, like Hornets/Bobcats/Pelicans and Grizzlies/Raptors. Could also throw in a couple of wild card teams, for example one team made up of all players from defunct ABA franchises (so not including nets or pacers).

Okay settling this here. The Hornets/Bobcats/Pels can be treated as a single lineage. As far as the Raptors go, they have generally been a pretty competitive team when someone takes a chance on them in this league. Lowry, Calderon, Vince, Young McGrady, Moon, Bosh, Donyell, Pat Pat, Jonas, Bismack, and Ed Davis come to mind immediately.

I like ccsweet's idea regarding defunct ABA teams-what do you guys think?
