NOTICE

This is the last Yarnell that Harding will host. If someone wants to be the new host, site mail me and I'll turn over the keys to you. Otherwise do your own tournament, just don't use the Yarnell name without contacting me.

I just do not like the new game at all. It's not just the new recruiting/scouting thing. That's part of it. It's mostly the layout. I have a hard time finding what I want. I can't copy-and-paste data into my spreadsheets anymore. I have a hard enough time trying to find this Iba board. I question why even do a spreadsheet anymore. They're giving away everything now that used to be earned by hard work and research. Blue, Green, Yellow and Orange colors? Are you shitting me? Anyone that's played the game as long as I have has known this potential system has always been the case. But now they just tell you instead of you figuring out for yourself. I just hate it all.

I will continue to coach Harding until I run out of earned seasons. After then I will retire. WIS will not get another penny from me.

So... one last time at Harding.

This is t
he Yarnell Invitational (named after Yarnell Ice Cream in Searcy, AR). As always, it'll be a 6 team round-robin tournament that will occur in weeks 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 of the non-conference schedule. Harding University will be the tournament host. The defending champ from the previous year is an automatic qualifier. The remainder of the field is invitation only.

We both know that point spread is ridiculous.

I hate that these world-specific forums are hard to find, but also that the conference chat is less prominent in the layout. The community and opportunity to interact has been shoved to the side and I think that will cost them in the long run.

scouting and recruiting? It's different for sure. I have seven or eight seasons banked so I'll see how it goes. I don't find scouting as cumbersome as some, but I use the bulk options rather than individual players. Being able to reach further up the talent scale is nice.

Thanks for for putting this tournament on for what feels like forever. Guys like you have really made this a better place. It would be justice if you took the trophy home.

I was actually within 2 of you at one point in the 2nd half @davefilby.

Hey guys. I'm going to be in the deer woods till Sunday, so I won't be able to post final updates of the tournament until Sunday evening. Good luck.

Here's the Tie-breaker rules...

Rule 5. BASKETBALL TIEBREAKER RULE - ALL CLASSES
A. If two teams are tied from regular season conference play,
tiebreaker procedures will be:
1. Head to head in regular season conference play.
2. If the two teams have split, margin of victory between the
two teams, with a maximum of 10 points per game.
3. If the two teams are still tied, all winning conference
game points, with a maximum of 10 points per game.
4. Forfeited games. Offended teams shall receive 10
points when tabulating the sum of the winning margins
for breaking conference ties.
5. If the two teams are still tied, a coin flip by the Arkansas
Activities Association's Executive Director will decide
seeding.
B. If three teams are in a three-way tie from regular season
conference play, tie breaker procedures will be: Head-tohead
competition. If one team has been defeated by one of
the other teams twice, they would be eliminated. The two
remaining teams would go to step two listed above for two
teams that are tied. If step two does not break the tie, step
three would follow, then step four.
C. If three teams are tied and each team has split (or a perfect
triangle), tiebreaker procedures will be: Margin of victory in
all conference games, with a maximum of 10 points per
game.
D. After tabulating the sum of the winning margins, all teams
except the two with the greater sum shall be eliminated and
the selection process shall begin again with paragraph (A).
E. If four or more teams were tied, the margin of victory in all
conference games would be used, with a maximum of 10
points per game. Head-to-head competition would decide
the two teams with the most points. If these teams had
split victories, margin of victory between the two teams,
with a maximum of 10 points per game.
F. If the two teams remain tied, the team with the most total
points would receive the place for the first team (if both tied
with the same number of points, a coin toss would be used
to decide the first team). This procedure would continue
until all places were filled.

Go to C. Margin of victory capped at 10 for all Yarnell games.

Dominican 7 + 10 + 10 + 10 = 37
Incarnate Word 10 + 10 + 10 + 3 = 33
NM Highlands 10 + 3 + 3 + 10 = 26

Then go to D.

This eliminates NM Highlands.

Going back to A.

Incarnate Word beat Dominican head-to-head so he wins the Yarnell. Congratulations @davefilby

Quick note. I have a potential volunteer to take over Yarnell. I don't know if we are too deep into the season to schedule for next season, but I'll leave that up to him. If anyone is reading this thread, keep slots 5-9 open to ease his scheduling. Mine are if he wants me. :) I'd be the 4 seed at best.

More details coming.

I'll wrap this up tomorrow.
