rick porcello deserved a cy young, and I have no problem with that. But 2 writers left Verlander off their their 5 man ballot while 14 gave him a first place vote...how does that happen? Those two writers had Ja Happ and Aaron Sanchez on their ballot ahead of JV.

In games in which they allowed 2 earned runs or less, Porcello went 14W, 1L, and 1 no decision. Verlander went 12 W, 3L, and 7 no decisions. In other words, when he pitched very well, the Red Sox bullpen and hitters helped Porcello get the W 14 out of 16 times, while The Tigers bullpen and hitters could only help JV get 12 out of 22.

Porcello was deserving, but in the end, this was a team award.

Doesn't sound like you think Porcello was deserving at all. All of your stretched subtext seems to believe Verlander got screwed.

It's not new information that some Cy voters weight record more heavily than a lot of people would prefer (and I'm not just talking about the analytics crowd that who don't want it considered at all). Sanchez and Happ were a combined 35-6 to Verlander's 16-9.

Sanchez also led the AL in ERA. That's not a ridiculous pick.

Kate Upton says Verlander got screwed and she would know. She obviously knows all there is to know about MLB pitching. Surprised no team has hired her as pitching coach yet.

To be left off of two ballots though is a bit much. Can you make the argument that he didn't deserve to win, sure. But not in the top 5 at all.....that's a bit of a stretch.....and that's coming from a sox fan.....plus her Twitter rant was pretty amusing
