We need
6 5 10 9 8 this season. Our owner requirements-- a minimum of 3 current, consecutive seasons in a single HBD world, OR a strong record of commitment and success at another dynasty game such as HD or GD. We also reserve the right not to admit people who meet these requirements, for whatever reason.
We have a gentle minimum win requirement (110 wins over 2 seasons, 170 over 3), and we do not allow personal attacks on the chat board.
Available franchises:
NL West: Fun opportunity for a veteran owner looking for a challenge. Team has $88M in committed salaries, mostly to prime age players-- but went 65-97 last season. The problem is the pitching staff-- $40M invested in guys who ran up a 4.97 ERA in Oakland, in the NL (average in that park, in our league, in the NL, would be about 3.80). Fortunately for the next owner, most of those contracts expire this season, they all expire after next season, and the position player contracts are much more reasonable. Drafted and kept 5 first rounders in the last 3 seasons, so you have something to work with. Almost certainly has to be rebuilt but can go quickly with the prospects and tradeable position player contracts as a starting point.
AL North: Riding the hamster wheel of mediocrity for 5 seasons-- but poised to come off. Only $38M in committed salaries and all but one of those contracts are very reasonable. Signed and kept 9 first round picks in the last 3 seasons, and have 3 international signings in the $5-10M range over the last 2 seasons that all look like future major league RP to me. Tons of value that can be traded for veterans to win right now, or bide your time for no more than one season and then you'll have a multi-year competitive team.
AL East: Only $46M committed in salaries to this team that went 94-68 2 seasons ago and 84-78 last season. Even better-- almost all that money went to prime-aged pitchers for a team that had a 3.84 ERA last season in Cleveland (average in that park, in our league, in the AL, would be about 4.60). Signed and kept 6 first rounders in the last 3 seasons, but this is a franchise that would be expected to contend for a few seasons with just routine off-season maintenance. Win-now opportunity.
AL South: $43M committed (after the obvious option decline). The big salaries are to good position players. Signed and kept 8 first-rounders in the last 3 seasons. Team is basically a blank slate; it's got money to burn and a ton of prospects, so you can play it for now or to rebuild. Similar to the AL North team.
AL West 1: $39M committed to a team that went 89-73 last season; every key player from that team returns (although you'll have to pony up another $25M or so in arbitration to bring them all back). Not too much in the farm-- 4 first rounders and one $21M international-- but the farm doesn't matter, this is a team in its prime with a several season contention trajectory right now, given that you return an excellent team and still will have room for 2-3 more FA signings.
AL West 2:
Taken 11/29. $73M committed. You're locked into one terrible legacy contract for one more season. It's a rebuild, but last season's owner began the rebuild for you; 10 first rounders signed and kept over the last 3 seasons (including 7 of them last season). You could try to make a run this season but it's probably better to trade off the numerous good-but-expensive contracts, decline the option on the bad contract next season, and let the farm come and take over in 2 seasons.
