For those of you old enough to have played this stupid game at the arcades. The losing team would make a come back shooting 3s no matter what you did on defense......

Sound like our HD crap?? We won in the final seconds. But I see this same bullshit time and time again.

Most games that are within 10 points in the final minutes are going to end with the losing team jacking up 3s and intentionally fouling, because that's how most humans are going to set their late game preferences. Do you think it is effective - i.e., the behind team makes a succession of shots and ties or wins the game - an inordinate amount of time? Go back through your game logs, and I doubt it works more often than rational probabilities would suggest. In other words, it's very unlikely that anything like that is coded to be successful. Sometimes guys hit 3 in a row, even when you play +5. As in real life.

I think it is effective against a +5 an inordinate amount of time. However, the issue may go back to Seble fuking up the impact of defensive positioning in one of his early blunders on this site, versus a specific end of game issue.
12/9/2016 9:09 AM
mully, this totally seems to happen all the freakin time!
12/9/2016 9:39 AM
I'm curious how much you expect positioning to affect 3pt shooting %. I've assumed it's something around 10% in either direction (so +5 reducing 3pt% by 10%, -5 increasing 3pt% by 10%). Any more than that doesn't seem very realistic to me, but obviously others may disagree.
12/9/2016 9:48 AM
That sounds reasonable, and may have been what it was like before Seble got his hands on it,

Completely agree with this post, its very frustrating.

This just happened in my S16 game last night. Other team went 4-4 from 3 in the last 50 seconds. I got lucky with some steals and was able to hold on.

Yep, total bull&*&^

To me something more frustrating is a foul, game tied, less than 10 secs, the other team is not even shooting but is on the bonus.. It happens often.

The problems I've always had with quick shot are twofold:

1. I am pretty certain there is no built-in "penalty" for shooters in it. That is, at worst, I think a player has the same chances of sinking a 3 in QS as they do in any other offensive set, which seems a dubious premise given the frantic nature of looking for the first available chance to chuck it up at the bucket rather than an offense designed to specifically get shooters clean looks.

2. The timing, in my mind, creates a crazy number of possession in HD. No, I haven't tried to do a comparison, in part because I don't have access to enough data on either side of the equation, but my gut tells me HD packs in way more possessions in the final 60 seconds of a game when in quick shot/intentional foul mode than actually happens.

I shot off a sarcastic note to CS shortly after quick shot made its appearance begging to know if there was some way I could get my team to run it for a full game because the 3-point percentages seemed ungodly. I was assured that there was no coding in the game designed to entice closer finishes or end-of-game drama.

I've ALWAYS set my "if winning late" strategy to: man-to-man, +5, if winning by 3, with 1:00 remaining. And I can tell you almost without a doubt that the losing teams chances of making 3pt shots is definitely increased in the last minute of a game. This drove me absolutely nuts.

I'm dropping this world at the end of the season because of WIS' ineptitude so I don't really give a ****...but just showing more examples of the late game bullshit that is WIS. Just drop all coaching options if they are this fukcing useless. We recruit then SIM the whole fukcing season in a day.
