New Progressive - All The Way League (waitlist) Topic

I'd like to see what the interest is to start a new progressive league beginning in 1901 with 12 teams. The plan would be to have traditional progressive rules; must be rated at a position to play there, only able to trade draft picks for the following season, draft determined by w-l record from previous season except for the initial draft which will be snake style in random order. I'm thinking of having draft order determined at game 120 with the hopes of having the draft begin soon after so that we can get through seasons a bit quicker. There will be a minimum wins floor TBD to get the first few picks to try and deter tanking. I'm open to input and suggestions on possible rules and tweaks.

Initial draft will include players like Nap Lajoie, Honus Wagner, Cy Young, and Christy Mathewson. Who's interested?

The 100 year war league is now up to 1936. It started with 16 teams but couldn't maintain it. I suggest you start with 12

I'd be interested

Might be interested if this takes off, I'd also suggest starting with 12 teams though.

I'd like to play.

Let me know, I might be interested.

NOT SURE WHY THE BEST TEAM WOULD GET TO PICK FIRST IN THE EVEN ROUNDS, KIND OF KEEPING THE WEAKER TEAMS DOWN

Yeah that was my mistake. Meant to say snake style for initial draft only with all subsequent drafts being determined by w-l record. Thanks for pointing that out.

I'd still like to try and go for a 16 team initial start with the option of using scrub players that have a significant amount of PA and IP, that way no one should ever be short at any position, worst case scenario you'll just be using a couple players that had full complete seasons, but were just really bad.

you're going to need 400 players to run a 16 team league

you don't even have 200 available players from the 1900 season

you might want to start a 16 team league around the 1950 season

In 1900 there were only 8 teams, which I why I was looking to start in 1901 when there was 16 and about 350 players in the sim. If there was enough support for wanting to have a 12 team league without scrubs instead of a 16 team league with scrubs I'd be willing to be flexible.

I would join a 1901 twelve team progressive.

How would the City/Stadium and team name work?

I was thinking city/stadium could be a separate draft with team names free for the owners to decide.

I'm interested if it's a 12 team league. I joined the 100 Year War in 1927, by which time they'd pared down to 12, and I really like the format. We just finished the regular season of 1936. You do play a lot of interleague games, but you also play your other 5 league mates a lot. I prefer that style over using scrubs who didn't really play in 1901. It's a shame that WIS won't let us pare down to 20 man rosters for these historic progressive leagues.

I'd probably be interested in a 12 team league to start.

Sounds like the prevailing sentiment is with a 12 team league so that will be the plan.
