We are currently in the top 20. The team is okay but it doesn't have a real shot of making the FF or anything. I am going to give it like three more seasons.

There is only one issue I have with the results as they are. DIII has shrunk tremendously in user coaches. With less coaches to compete against, the records you're pulling now, would likely be less when the worlds were at their previous populations.

Still the numbers are respectable. Without a final conclusion, it seems you can achieve a team that will regularly make the NT, and maybe even be fairly competitive, but so far does not appear it can make a deep run (again the jury is out).

TJ - Have you had any luck with JUCO players? I got this guy as a D3 JUCO pretty much unopposed.

No, but I am about 3 months behind on the D3 JUCO curve. I think there are REAL VALUES at D3 JUCO and plan on taking advantage of it.

The one problem I have is finding them. Other than CA, they are pretty scattered.

NO juco's this time around. Just a PG and a PF. I had to battle a SIM for the PG (9 HV's and a CV).

I made it to the 2nd round of the NT in year 4 with my first class being Jr.'s. I expect better this season.

I just finished my 5th season, first with seniors I recruited.

We finished 23-9, 14th in RPI, 7th in SOS (that may move down a bit because the NT isn't quite over), made the S16. I lost by 8 to a very good team. I had my chances, I was down 5 with the ball with around 1 minute left but missed a 3 and then turned it over. The team that beat should have won, the beat me 80 times out of 100.

I went 7-8 vs top 100 RPI human coached teams, 2-8 vs top 25 human RPI teams, 5-0 vs humans in the 26-100 range.

Alas, that was the best i ever did.

In my last 7 seasons, I made the NT 5 times, the 2nd round 4 and the s16 once. It was fun but you would need to be a much better coach than me to actually compete for a NC.

not sure i agree with this.

in a fuller world, the elite d3 teams would have much more trouble getting d2 and d1 recruits, meaning that many coaches would end up with mostly d3 recruits.

as the world stands now, when TJ 's teams get into the NT... he is playing with one hand tied behind his back because he is using only d3 recruits and i would guess that most decent d3 teams are using mostly d2/d1 recruits.

im sure i have missed out on some decent players, but i havent looked at a single d3 recruit for my d3 teams in many many seasons.

That statement isn't wrong, but i believe all world populations are down from when this experiment started.

The users remaining will have the d2 and d1 recruits and win titles, but there isn't enough good teams to keep his d3 only team out of the NT or possibly winning a round or 2.

yeah, i actually thought some more about it, and i get it now.

if worlds were a little more full, there would still be plenty of d2 and d1 recruits for d3 teams.. and then there would be more good d3 teams and it would be tougher to make the NT or win a game.

makes sense, i get it now
