He's getting a great deal. Rivera was paid more than $1 each for those 51 extra saves.

"If you earned $652 over 20 years and I earned $601 over 20 years, I'd say we were comparable in our earnings. Relatively close to each other in total."

Seriously, I'm not a fan of the "save" stat. It's just retarded to say 652 and 601 are "relatively close". Rivera and Hoffman aren't "relatively close" in HOF-worthiness either. It's a dumb argument to have but I had a few minutes. And now I don't.
Oh, honey. You really are retarded. You multiplied 51 * 20 and got 1020. No. Not 652 and 601 per year.

You earned 652 in total over 20 years. I earned 601 in total over 20 years.

That's comparable. Relatively close.
So you only want to send me $51? That's fine. Since it's only $51, a WifS GC will be fine. Thanks, bro!!
Why would I send you money?

The point is that, over almost 20 seasons, a 50 save difference isn't much of a difference.

89 saves, if you count Octobers.

Because it would prove that you really believe 652/601 are "relatively close".

All that would prove is that I don't value $50. It wouldn't prove anything related to saves.

The stupidity on both sides in this thread is off the charts.

Rivera is in his own league as a RP...it's not that close.

But if you're just looking at saves: Rivera saved 34.31 games per season during his career. Hoffman saved 33.38. The reason Rivera is 51 ahead is because he played one more season - context helps. Take that away, he's about 17 ahead. Rivera got a save in 59% of relief appearances during his career. Hoffman, 58%.

BL definitely doesn't help his case with some of his foolish arguments, but some others also just love to argue and split hairs wherever they can. When it comes to saves specifically, their production was pretty damn close.
