Anyone who doesn't think Hoffman or Edgar should be in needs a brain scan

I voted no on Hoffman. I think he's borderline. I'd put Wagner in ahead of him and I voted no on Wagner.

I'd probably vote no on all relief pitchers. At least, I wouldn't vote any RP ahead of someone like Mussina or Schilling.

Edgar was an easy "no".

Bonds and Clemens should be the only inductees this year. Kinda like peeling the band-aid off so that the other "'roiders" of the generation (Bagwell, Sosa, Manny, Pudge, etc.) can join them in the future.

Anyone who votes for the parenthetical four above WITHOUT Bonds or Clemens is a hypocrite.

I voted for all those guys as they were some of the best players of the era. Makes no sense to keep them out of a Hall of Fame.

You have high standards Mikewrg.

I take it that means you won't be voting for Ortiz when he's eligible.

So you won't be voting for Rivera?

And this isn't an official ballot. We don't have a limited number of votes in this thread, so whether or not you'd vote him in ahead of someone else is irrelevant.

Correct.

Ortiz played only around 1/3 of the innings that Edgar played on defense.

If you think he's an easy no you're even stupider than I thought you were. And that's knowing you have Spongebob on your computer desk. We're talking about a guy tied for 42nd all-time in OPS+, 21st in OBP, 41st in average during the live-ball era. Those are good numbers. I can see room for him to be a no (he's not for me, but I can see it). But if he's an easy no, you're not thinking very hard.

Then again, it seems that you rarely are.
