The Progressive Optional Rookie Keeper league is looking for a replacement owner, to take over the New York Knickerbockers. Team plays in the NL East, and have 5th Pick throughout the draft. Once you join draft will start.

New York Knickerbockers are based upon the 1960's New York Yankees and the 1990's New York Mets. Basic principle is a double progressive based on teams from the 60's and 90's for which you have first dibs on all their Rookies coming into the next season. We are entering the 1966/1996 season, so 60's Yankees get first choice to keep Roy White, Fritz Peterson, Dooley Womack and Bobby Murcer, and 1990's Mets get first dibs on Rey Ordonez and Paul Byrd.

Teams must keep at least 25 players going into the coming season's draft, and there is a 5 round (max) free agent draft. If you do the math, if you keep 25 players (from previous team's 25 man MLB squad plus 5 player AAA squad, plus any 1966/1996 team Rookies you choose to keep) then you can draft 5 free agents. If you keep 26 players, then you can draft 4 free agents, etc. If you keep 30 players then you have no picks in the free agency draft.

Free agents are all Rookies from the 8 1996 teams that are not included (California, Colorado, Cincinnati, Detroit, Florida, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, St. Louis) and all 1996 Rookies who are not kept by their teams. Also all 1966 Rookies who are not kept by their teams (eg. my 1966 team Houston is not keeping SS Sonny Jackson, so he would be a free agent). You are forced to keep 25 players to prevent teams from losing the "essence" of the two teams they are based on. There are still plenty of free agents available to fill in gaps. Other free agents are veteran players who are not on any teams keeper lists.

Note, goal is to expand the league from 20 to 24 teams as we approach the next MLB expansion in 1969/1999. This is a fun league with some great owners. I am happy to forward the league official rules at request. Note NL has no DH, AL has DH. We are a 20 team league ( 4 x 5 team divisions). Trades are encouraged. There is a bottom four team draft lottery for the first round of the free agency draft.
