The Team Icon Progressive is about to start the 1968 season and we need an owner for the San Francisco Giants. The basic concept is that you can only draft/trade for players who played for your team at some point in their career. Any player who played their entire career for your team you get without having to draft them (as well as any players who played for your team and a defunct team not in the league), but anyone who played for more than one franchise can play for any of those teams. Due to the limited nature of the player pool draft trading is hot and heavy to get ahead of other teams that can take your players. The Giants had a down year in 1967 after winning the NL West in 1966 and are drafting fourth in the 1968 Draft. 1968 sees Bobby Bonds start his WiS career so there's a good shot he'll be there at #4. The Giants roster is below. We are ready to start the 1968 Draft as soon as we get a new owner for the Giants. Please let me know if there are any questions. Team Icons (TI) are players who started their Career with 10+ seasons with one team and spent less than three full seasons with other teams. You get these guys for free too. McCovey is a Team Icon for the Giants because he played his first 15 seasons in SF before spending 3 in SDP/KCA and then coming back to the Giants. Mays is a Team Icon for the Giants because he spent his first 21 seasons with the Giants and then only 1 1/2 seasons with the Mets, etc. Guys who you have to keep (anyone you don't draft) can be put in AAA if they fall below minimum ABs/IPs. The Giants are still a solid team with a core of McCovey/Mays/Alou/Marichal and will contend for the NL West title for quite some time.
