Sure. As long as he stays above 5%, he has until 2028. He's basically Ron Santo 2.0. I know Santo had to wait for the Veterans Committee, but I don't think that would be the case if Santo was on the ballot in 2018.

Then why don't u think he's a HoFer? He's the 2nd best leadoff hitter of all time, the 2nd best base stealer of all time. One of the best hitters of all time. Is it becuz he doesn't have 3000 hits or 500 homers?

Exactly. The second-best leadoff hitter just happened to have his career overlap with the best - which is why his induction took so long. That's the problem with blanket approaches like "Well, he wasn't he best of his era, so he's not a HOFer."

Well I do think that being 2nd or even third best of your era shouldn't be an impediment to being a HOFer. Sometimes there just are times when you have a lot of good players at once.

To me the shots against Raines were 1) he wasn't durable 2) his play after age 32/33 was pretty average.

As a result of back and elbow injuries Kiner and Koufax were retired by 32/33. Does that mean they don't belong in the Hall?

That's not a good analogy. In this case you've been discussing the evils of capitalism with this dude for years, he's only talking to a small group of people you've been discussing the matter with, and you're still ignoring him. Now instead of being "normal" and having somewhere to go you're just a dick.

Your analogy works for many online interactions. But it doesn't work on a site like this with a fairly small and well-established user base in the forums.

Wait, so it's ok to be great and then retire in your early thirties, but it's not ok to be great and then just be above average from your mid-late thirties?

It's the same hypocrisy as the DH argument. It's not okay to be a great hitter for your entire career, but if you're a great hitter and an awful, costly fielder, you'll get in.
