Honestly I don't think approval/favorability ratings mean anything anymore. Trump had the lowest ratings of the 16 Republicans he ran against. Lower ratings than Hillary. Congress has something like a 12% approval rating yet these clowns keep getting re-elected.

Same poll:

67% of respondents said the Democratic Party was out of touch, as did 62% for the Republican Party. Less than a third said either party was "in touch."

Trump faired slightly better than the parties, with 58% saying he was out of touch.

Point is... As bad as Trump is doing from an approval standpoint, the Republicans and Democrats are worse. Nobody likes politicians these days which is why approval ratings mean very little anymore. Everyone is despised. Polling in general has been really bad. Look at Brexit, look at Trump. Le Pen is going to win in France despite the polls.
