Trump Told Army Widow Her Husband Knew 'What He Signed Up For,' Congresswoman Says
A Florida congresswoman described President Donald Trump’s phone call to the widow of a soldier killed during an ambush in Niger as “insensitive” after the president reportedly said the man “must’ve known what he signed up for.”
Rep. Frederica Wilson was in the car with Myeshia Johnson, the pregnant widow of Army Sgt. La David Johnson, when Trump called her Tuesday and spoke for about five minutes.
“Sarcastically he said: ‘But you know he must have known what he signed up for,’” Wilson recounted to NBC6. “How could you say that to a grieving widow? I couldn’t believe... and he said it more than once. I said this man has no feelings for anyone. This is a young woman with child who is grieved to her soul.”

so, two people in the car say that trump said that. trump claims he has proof that he didn't say it. Where is this proof? If he didn't say it and can prove it why doesn't he? He shows proof. Wilson looks like an idiot, end of discussion. Does Trump expect that his saying he has proof if enough proof for us? Personally I take everything he says as a lie until proven otherwise.
You're proving my point. Its pathetic that anyone cares about this, other then the family Trump called. Do you not see how sad it is that libs have resorted to making molehills like this into mountains?
whether or not it is sad that its being discussed, it does seem like a pretty stupid thing to say and shows a lack of empathy. And once it was out there that he supposedly said it, why not just show his "proof" that he didn't say it and put the whole discussion to rest.
You're right. Some of the other idiotic stuff Trump does and says is a lot more important than this, but it is still a pretty dumb thing to say to the guy's widowed bride (f he actually said it)
If Trump had to prove everything the media claims he wouldn't have time to do anything. Let's say Trump played that game and showed he never said anything of the sort, disapproving the media and this whackjob representative.... The media wouldn't talk about the fact Trump was right, they'd find something else they find offensive in the transcript and focus on that. Trump can't win so he's smart enough to not even play.
How is it not playing by saying he has proof he did not say that? Not playing would be totally ignoring the statement by the representative. By saying he never said it and claiming to have proof, he just made it more newsworthy. If he had never responded in the first place, or just said it was not worthy of a response it would have been forgotten by now.
By proof he means he had Gen Kelly right next to him when he made the calls.
Yep. Also, Trump WANTS the media salivating over this. It's this kind of stuff that sticks when he's branding the media as fake news. It's also covering republicans from negative media from topics like taxes and healthcare.
