Opinions - Best Def Postitions Topic

I am looking to get some other opinions on where to play each of these guys to maximize my defense. I play in a slight Pitcher park, all 0's except -2 HR LF.

Player A - 88/81/93/83
Player B - 85/83/97/86
Player C - 86/87/54/71
Player D - 77/78/84/77
Player E - 79/77/81/77

A & B I expect to still see some Def development and possibly D as well so that might change things as the season goes on.

A - CF (because he has the best range)
B - SS
C - 2B
D - 3B
E - either LF or 1B

Agree with the above, but make sure to double-check whether Player C throws right-handed or left-handed.

If he throws RH he can play 2B, if he throws LH he cannot play 2B... it would be mandatory to play 1B or OF (preferably CF or LF because of weak arm). E would win gold glove in RF, you would want to put a 79/77/81/77 in right and a 79/77/55/55 type of guy in left

Good point. If player C is a LH thrower, then he can go to CF and player A can move to 2B (assuming he's not a LH thrower).

RF gets the fewest touches of balls per nine innings. It would be a waste to put an elite defender (within the context of LF/RF/1B) there.

C - CF
D - 3B
E - Bench utility unless the bat is really good. If the bat is really good you need another E that can't hit. Therefore RF or LF.

Yes, they all throw RH.

Player E will get some starts against LHP but will probably be a bench player for the most part. Thanks for the input everyone, A, B, and C were the guys I was having a hard time figuring out where they best belong.

Everyone needs and E guy on the bench to be honest. Specially if you play in the NL. Makes it so easy to move pieces around in the later innings.

I was assuming that these were guys whose bats deserved to be in a starting lineup.

Player E is my fall back in case this guy above doesn't work out, so he could potentially be an everyday guy. I haven't found comps yet to get an idea of how he could do with his splits being so terrible.

That didn't work at all...
Hits RH
92/56/30/40/78
BR: 80
Bunt: 93
Speed: 83

He'll walk a lot and steal a lot of bases which is nice. He'd be a poor mans leadoff, but with his defensive limitations I would only have him as a guy warming the seat until someone better comes along. Those splits with the lack of power are going to be difficult to overcome.

My bench guys that are comparable to E:

I disagree with the group around where to play A and C. There is a bug in the engine; outfielders don't make throwing errors. For that reason I would put A in CF and C at 2B, putting the higher AA where you can use it to prevent errors.

This isn't a definitive answer. AA for an outfielder still might well have importance in throwing out baserunners without errors being charged. But I like the sure thing of error prevention at 2B.

For the first sentence I think you got confused, because you said you disagreed but then said you would put A in CF and C at 2B which is what you were disagreeing with.. so I think maybe you meant the other way around.... Player Profile: Omar Flores is a guy who is 88/81/90/95 and his career fielding stats at ML 2B are
Career Totals ML 2B 46 41 374.1 97 146 1 31 18 0 0 0 0 - .996 5.84

18 plus plays in 46 games seems like a ton
