formula builder anybody? Topic

I was bored so I spent the afternoon ranking players from the formula builder using hockey's advice. So it's on you, hockey when my picks **** the bed.

Deal! Who do I get to blame when my picks **** the bed?

You can blame damag. Dude's nothing but a troublemaker.

This is an excellent point. Post a link for your first 5 picks when your draft takes place. I'm curious.

I'm learning with my method, 1st rounder can be a bust but I've nabbed some real gems 2-5.

My 2nd season with this team. Have $18M in HS scouting.

Randy Hall looks like your best pick.

Good news is Dan Cook is very serviceable if those defensive numbers get to the 80-85 range.

Harpo Grove will be interesting. Could be a great setup or a bust.

Kenny Mitchel has potential to be a poor mans leadoff.

Sorry about Will Paul. Eeps.

Cook was rated 90+ across the board defensively so hopefully he gets close there. Grove is funny because I have $5M in college and his currents rate close to his projections. I hope he gets a couple bumps being that he's only 20 and has decent makeup.

This is why I don't mind the fuzzy ratings so much. I'd be iffy on Cook and a little nervous but I'd be shocked if Hall isn't an impact ML'er. I'd say .280-.300 avg / .350 on base. Slugging won't be great, but not everyone needs to hit homeruns.

I don't have high hopes for anyone other than Hall and Grove.

My most recent draft in Gibson:

Beck is probably a bust at the 27th pick. Its my own fault, trying to get a everyday player so late in the draft.

The supplemental round I did better.

and

And then after that everything went downhill. Its my own fault because I had my RP set to 2 and had my 'other' set to 0. I could have had a whole bullpen if I hadn't set things wrong. Instead I ended up with trash.

Considering this is only my first 5 picks up to round 3 I'm a little peeved. But the 2 relief pitchers look serviceable. So thats good at least.
I'll let you know what happens with my other draft in 2 days.

I like those supplemental picks you got and maybe the catcher you got last if his offense pans out, though it probably could have been a better pick in round 3.

We're only 21 games into another league I'm in so it'll be awhile before I can test out the system again.

I have my draft in Riley tomorrow but the draft class looks terrible. Plus I am picking 28, 51, 88 and 120 for my first 4 picks so I'm not holding out hope. Also only have cash for slot players. Will post my results when I get em.

On this draft board I see 6 players that could make an impact, about a dozen more that are situational and then a dozen more that are marginal. I'm not holding out hope but I do have my 3 lists.

1 ) What I'd like but know am not getting - A defensive stud of a CF with good hitting ratings + eye but bad contact
2 ) What I think I'm getting - A switch hitting DH with a great bat. Makes no sense as I'm in the NL. Will either go in RF or be trade bait.
3 ) What I'm probably actually getting - A left handed relief pitcher with good control and good VsL with boarderline 2nd pitch and VsR.

Ok so here is the results of my draft in Riley. I'm actually shocked. I did much better in this draft then I thought I would. My 3rd rounder is a 'Looking to be drafted in the first 5 rounds' so when he signs, I'll update the list. These are my picks from 1, 1*, 2,4,5,6. Pick numbers were 28,51,88,153,185,217.

Espinosa is exactly what I expected. At 28th overall I am actually pretty happy to get a player that will be the first guy off my bench for defensive replacements. Probably will never hit more then .220 but thats not what I drafted him for.

Azocar has potential to be a great defensive C that can rake against lefties. I have a guy already like this on my team in Riley and he's great.

Other then the eye I think Azocar is going to be better to be honest.

Sheldon was the guy I thought I was going to get with my first rounder and he's exactly what I expected. Pretty happy with that in the 2nd round.

I could tell by the complaining that you had your money in HS. I had College and the College side looked much deeper. FYI the split in Riley was 14 HS, 20 College in the first round.

I've decided to do comparisons by doing HS in Riley in Coll in Gibson. Thus far I think I like going Coll better. Seems to be deeper with a better possibility of signing, but I'm pleasantly surprised with the players I got in this years draft. I count 3 that should make the BL.
