New College Football Alumni League - 2016 players Topic

As our current college alumni league moves into the playoffs, it's time to get things started on the next one. As discussed in our league forum, we'll hopefully be able to use 2016 players, assuming that Foxsports doesn't take forever to generate them.

As before, first come, first served...owners with two teams will have them placed in separate conferences. Same rules apply - $80 million salary cap, all players on your roster must have played at your school, and defense, offensive line and special teams (punt and/or kick returner) each must have at least one starter from your school. Everyone should post their defense, offensive line and special teams selections for their school in this thread. No waiver wire. New owners are welcome!

Here's what I have so far. I'll get a league number and sitemail it to those committed sometime tomorrow.

Thanks for keeping this alive! Will pick a new school if somebody wants Texas A&M or NC State.

I may be Captain Obvious here, but that's a big problem with a lot of these schools, missing KEY positions, unless you just wanna play and throw away $10. For $hit$ and giggles I made like 20 different teams using some of the lesser schools when I was bored one night. Abysmal teams. Would never make it in a real league. You pretty much gotta stick to the big schools and even some of those like GT, are missing QB's and such. It's really not a bad idea that kilgore is allowing multiples instances of each school. Might help us fill quicker.

I'm still kinda shocked '87 Kosar lead Miami to the best record in the league. I figured he'd be an INT machine on here.

Nobody used Louisville, Texas, or Wisconsin last time. All solid teams really!

I made a team with Wisconsin last time, but somehow deleted it in error, so will try again.

I guess I wasn't as clear as I should have been, widowmaker. This league is still first come, first served for any particular school. I just didn't want to prevent someone from using the same school they did in the last league, and attempted to make the point that anyone that did repeat could take an entirely different approach with roster construction this time around.

FWIW, we do an Alumni League every season in the NBA SIM, and allow "small school" (schools that have too few players to field a team of their own) adds. We limit the adds to 2 or 3 max with a varying salary total and individual player salary max. I mention this as it helps those schools with just a hole or two become "usable", and that might help you fill timely.

Thanks all3. We'll consider that if necessary, but there are at least 25-30 traditional football powers from which you can easily comprise a full roster. Most of these schools have a weak link or two, but the $80 million cap yields good competitive balance.

Good choice!! I would see how the 2016 Cowboys O-Line looks. Just a helpful hint!
