Let me start by saying that I agree that this situation can't be what that intended to happen when this was designed - I think the D1 schools should have easily knocked me down to have no chance at that recruit and I've had that happen with my D3 teams and even D2 where I was knocked down quickly after being very high for a huge portion of both recruiting sessions (and again agree that should happen) I'm not certain what the difference was this time other than I kept pouring AP's in throughout. I wish I had tracked the interest level each cycle but I didn't. I thought I was at VH or H the entire time but I definitely could be mistaken. I had 1655 AP's, 11 home visits, CV, promised start, and 15 promised minutes. I also had two very good and one good preference with none bad. I also am aware there is some amount of benefit to AP's after you promise minutes and starts so I opened those as quickly as possible and got those benefits the rest of recruiting session 1 and 2.
I found and recruited other completely unrecruited D1 'projected' players that aren't real D1 players but will be very nice at D3 so I could stay invested in Bricker.
Should this happen? No...but as long as it's a possibility I'll definitely be more willing to get into or stay in battles to be a part of the 'coin flip' as the underdog.
