The Holiday Tournament - Round Two Topic

ROUND TWO of the Holiday Tournament will run like this:

All owners who earn a spot (or spots) in Round Two will send me a sitemail to let me know which of the eight leagues they want to have a team in. Once it's been decided which owners are in which league, their Round One teams win total will be chronologically listed and the owner whose Round One team had the most wins will pick first in that particular league. It will go chronologically in line after that in each league. If you think this is confusing to read, you should try thinking about it while you're typing it. Anyway, it's not hard to understand if you've been in one of my tournaments before. You'll catch on quickly if you haven't figured it out by now. I will try to put each owner in the league(s) they choose. There may be a few exceptions in which I have to put someone where they didn't choose. Those exceptions should be minimal at best so bear with me when the time comes.

Once each of the eight leagues know which 24 owners are in them, those owners (again, based on Round One team win totals) will pick which season they would like and which league (American or National). There are between 28 and 30 choices in each 24-team league. The first 12 of either league (American or National) chosen will close that out. In other words, if the 20th owner picking in League 1 chooses the 12th National League team taken, then, obviously that means that eight others chose an American League team and the remaining four owners must choose an American League team. Once all teams have been chosen and loaded into their leagues, the alignment will be chronological in each league (A.L. / N.L.).

The Leagues will be broken down like this:

League 1: 1901-1915 (No Federal League)
08 franchises in each league

League 2: 1916-1930
08 franchises in each league

League 3: 1931-1945
08 franchises in each league

League 4: 1946-1960
08 franchises in each league

League 5: 1961-1974
08 franchises in the N.L. in 1961
10 franchises in the N.L. from 1962-1968
12 franchises in the N.L. from 1969-1974
10 franchises in the A.L. from 1961-1968
12 franchises in the A.L. from 1969-1974

League 6: 1975-1988
12 franchises in the N.L. from 1975-1988
12 franchises in the A.L. from 1975-1976
14 franchises in the A.L. from 1977-1988

League 7: 1989-2002
12 franchises in the N.L. from 1989-1992
14 franchises in the N.L. from 1993-1997
16 franchises in the N.L. from 1998-2002
14 franchises in the A.L. from 1989-2002

League 8: 2003-2016
16 franchises in the N.L. from 2003-2012
15 franchises in the N.L. from 2013-2016
14 franchises in the A.L. from 2003-2012
15 franchises in the A.L. from 2013-2016

NOW HERE'S THE REAL KICKER: Every franchise that played in your season must be represented - and represented well. Listed here is the salary breakdown for each team:

If your team consists of 08 franchises, you must spend a minimum of $10M on players or pitchers from each franchise;
If your team consists of 10 franchises, you must spend a minimum of $8M on players or pitchers from each franchise;
If your team consists of 12 franchises, you must spend a minimum of $7M on players or pitchers from each franchise;
If your team consists of 14 franchises, you must spend a minimum of $6M on players or pitchers from each franchise;
If your team consists of 15 franchises, you must spend a minimum of $5.5M on players or pitchers from each franchise;
If your team consists of 16 franchises, you must spend a minimum of $5M on players or pitchers from each franchise.

An example would be if you had the American League from 1969: There were twelve franchises in the A.L. that year - the Orioles, Pilots, Angels, Athletics, White Sox, Twins, Indians, Tigers, Yankees, Red Sox, Senators and the Royals. You must have at least $7M worth of players or pitchers on your roster from each of the twelve franchises. Twelve times seven is eighty-four million. That still leaves you with $36M to play with.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Clones: No
Waiver Wire: No
Trades: No
A.A.A.: No.
Designated Hitter: Yes
Injuries – Turned Off.
CAP – $120M.
You may use either partial or full season stats of any player who had a split season - as long as the stats indicate it was for your franchise.

Stadium – All teams will use a stadium that was in use "in that league" during that season.

Who Moves On?

Once Round TWO is complete, the owners who own the eight playoff teams in each league will earn a spot in Round Two. 8 x 8 = 64 spots. That leaves 8 spots to fill. The final 8 spots will be awarded to the teams who had the most wins across all 8 leagues (who didn't make their league's playoffs). The tie-break (should it come into play) will be (1) Most Home Wins, and (2) Highest total from Runs Scored minus Earned Runs.
