Promotion penalty? Topic

Please see the player below.

1) I have never seen a player take a ratings hit for a promotion. Can someone explain that?

2) I didn't even "promote" him. I assigned him to Low A and that's the only level he's been at. So it basically amounts to an assignment penalty.

Curious to get some feedback.

We can only see his currents.

But I'm going to guess: you signed him on Feb. 21 but he didn't pitch in a game till Feb. 28. Did you leave him unassigned the whole time? Might have something to do with it. That and/or his low patience rating.

Ya, I didn't assign him immediately. It's dumb that sitting for a week would cause a guy to take a ratings hit though.

He gets no playing time and no coaching. He's not on a team. His skills degrade because he's in limbo.

Same thing happens when you sign a FA during spring training and leave him unassigned. He loses points.

I guess. I don't really see how a guy's abilities diminish just because he's not playing for a few weeks. In that case, everyone's ratings should plummet during the offseason.

His patience is low. He sees everyone else playing while he hasn't been assigned and takes it personal. I can totally see this.

makes more sense then a 36 year old pitcher taking a ratings hit when being dropped to AAA because their ERA is +9.

Would his LoA pitching coach rating of 38 factor into this?

I doubt it, otherwise anyone I assign to that level would take a hit.

Patience ratings explained.

80-100 - Yeah bud. It's cool. I'm just happy to be getting paid for doing something I love.

60-79 - I'm in no rush to get to the bigs but I'd better get there eventually. Getting arb'd a 3rd time kinda sucked but I'd better take the money I'm offered.

40-60 - F you management! I'm worth 10X that on the open market! I should have been in the majors at 20.

20-40 - BABE RUTH NEVER GOT DEMOTED!!!
