Ok, so this is probably a basic question, but I haven't been able to find the answer anywhere. When a player goes on waviers, and is owed their contract for the year and gets picked up, who pays the salary? Adding team? Dropping team? Or pro-rated based on who had player for how long?

If he's on waivers because he was being waived, then the claiming team assumes his entire remaining salary (current year, and future years).

If the player was on the waiver wire because he was released, then the claiming team only pays the ML minimum ($327k, prorated for current year, and full $327k for future years) while the releasing team is on the hook for the rest.
