Be patient, your offense averages 42 Formation IQ on Pro and 41 on Trips. As you build up your IQ and get your own guys in there, you'll begin to see improvement.

Raider , just to reinforce what chetty said. Just hang in there . Build the form iq. Get the best Hi Growth players you can and build them up. Find the best teams in your 1AA world. Look at the numbers you should strive for aprox. And keep getting better. Unless you take over an existing successful team , it takes a few seasons to build a winning program.

I have taken over a couple of projects and both teams are in the 40-45 IQ formation range. Would you recommend more than 10 minutes on formations or the customary 6 and concentrate on player development? Limit formations to 2 on offense PS and Trips and 2 on def. 4-3 and nickel

Personally, at 1AA form iq is important.
I would feel more comfortable at 15 min each formation. But since you have a young team and trying to grow them I would probably compromise and put 12 per formation.
I usually play d2 and even there I put 10-15 per formation.
One suggestion is pick your favorite formation and drop your other(offense)one. That gives you minutes to put into individual practice and in this game you can win an NC with 1 formation once you develop it to that level of quality. Pro and I are popular. I have seen more than a few all Trips. A few Shotgun teams. Almost Any formation all by itself has had success.

Question on this topic, i have shifted my practice plan to have 12 minutes for both trips and pro-set as my team knowledge for both of this was around 41. I was able to get it up to roughly 47 by the end of the season and my offensive production increased dramatically. Is there a formation IQ number i should be targeting? Meaning if i get the team IQ to over 60, is it safe to shift my practice minutes for the two formations from 12 back to 6 to maintain that 60 number?

Nope. Keep it at 12.
As you start playing better teams, THEY will have high formation iq's . And you want to remain competitive.

I assume the same holds true for special teams? recommended to do 10-15 minutes for special teams?

I think YES on the 10-15 on special teams. My experience tells me that less than 10 makes you give up a lot of returns for TDs.
