How to keep Work Ethic up? Topic

Hey all, is there a good way to keep your players work ethic from dropping? Obviously, I know it's tied into playing time but I was wondering if you all could give me some advice on how to properly balance playing time with experience.

For example, my Junior QB's WE has dropped and his progress this year has really slowed, but I'm not about to play him over my starting QB in games that matter.

I'm already out of the playoff picture and thinking about just starting younger players for my final game tomorrow, is one game enough to reverse the WE drop?

I really wouldnt worry about the sim recruited players. Typically that will happen for upperclassmen that do not get a lot of playing time.

Besides that I do not think starting 1 game will make a difference. The player expects to get more playing time over an entire season.

As always, it is a trade off. I had gameplans setup to play all the young guys in blow outs and less important games and saw small WE increase across pretty much everyone on the team will only a few losing WE. The younger guys got a bit of a growth boost and the starters didn't grow as much compared to having the starters just play.

My take is that if the starter is a SR, then it is worth the effort to fiddle with the gameplan to get a growth headstart for the younger guys, but if the starter is a Jr or younger, I would let them play as much as possible to keep him growing. I would also factor in their potential and projected end rating based on WE, Starts, playing time and potential to make the decision.
Having said all that, I haven't had time to actually implement that model on my current teams

Playing time in the last game is not going to affect their WE.

Losing a couple point in WE doesn't really matter that much. The red line looks bad, but 39 or 37 WE doesn't matter.

The best way to cheat the system is to play guys in a formation when they don't matter... for example play your freshman QB on running plays... need to get around 35% to get credit for start... or you could play a freshman at WR 100% of the plays that never gets the ball thrown to him... more playing time will increase WE more than just starting but I don't know what all the inflection points are.

...and never ever promise a FR or SO start and then not play....or even worse, play 3 games and pull in the fourth...like me.....ouch....I forgot how painful that was.

Pay attention to what ebel says. If you have a freshman who shows a lot of promise, find ways to get him at least 33% playing time in a game (plus or minus - I had a guy with 28% PT get credit for a start). If I'm playing a SIM, I will play my starters in the first half, then throw in a few of my most promising underclassmen in the 2nd half if I'm up comfortably.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I like your point about 2nd halves versus Sims BjSchu. And also that's a good point about the minimal difference between 39 and 37 WE, the negatives just spooked me and wanted to make sure I wasn't messing something obvious up!

Viagra, the cheap alternative. Go with Cialis. The difference in a 4 cylinder(4 hr duration) and an 8 cylinder (36 hr duration) motor....you may not need 8 cylinders at the start but it is nice to have it under the hood when you need it..or at least that's what I heard.
