We have another Maze run. On this one i expect some feedback from people

I like the idea of multiple awards. And I completely agree that the main award should be based on who got the most from their roster. On top of that, I think the degree of difficulty in achieving those results should be considered. Making the second round (or the bowl equivalent) and winning ten games with a roster half filled with Sims would be a COY coaching job, for example.

First, let me weigh in. The CoY committee is made up of 8 coaches, each with different points of view on what they value most (winning bowl games, deep playoff runs, doing more with less, etc.) Each member nominates their top 5 in rank order, and the 5 coaches with the most points are in the final list to be considered. The debate on whether we got it right will always be there, because all of us come at this differently. If someone (hey Gt!), can come up with a mathematical formula that can appropriately weight all of the factors, maybe we can take the human element out of it.

However, I feel safe in saying the debate would still be there, regardless of the method. The coaches in this world are the best and have great perspective. But actually, the debate is a GREAT thing. It creates conversation, keeps the forums active and challenges the committee members to think differently.

Lastly, I do want you to know that we care deeply about getting it right, and we appreciate the candor.

Sometimes in life, it's best to ask yourself, "Is this REALLY worth arguing? Even if I WIN this argument, will my life improve in such a way that it was worth annoying other people?" And if the answer to that question is, "yes", proceed with your argument.

There are 8 coaches total not 8 per division. Chetty puts a lot of work into collecting our nominations and putting everything together. I know we all have different criteria for what makes a COY and the research we put in takes time. Not an easy or quick process.

Why would he reveal this information? Why would you ask? So the eight committee members can be bombarded with site mail after a vote doesn't go someone's way? And NO, I am not on the committee.

Not complaining. Just saying that there wasn't no one who wanted to do it, but that I did want to but I wasn't qualified.
