First, let me weigh in. The CoY committee is made up of 8 coaches, each with different points of view on what they value most (winning bowl games, deep playoff runs, doing more with less, etc.) Each member nominates their top 5 in rank order, and the 5 coaches with the most points are in the final list to be considered. The debate on whether we got it right will always be there, because all of us come at this differently. If someone (hey Gt!), can come up with a mathematical formula that can appropriately weight all of the factors, maybe we can take the human element out of it.
However, I feel safe in saying the debate would still be there, regardless of the method. The coaches in this world are the best and have great perspective. But actually, the debate is a GREAT thing. It creates conversation, keeps the forums active and challenges the committee members to think differently.
