FRANCHISES AVAILABLE:
NL East 1 - CLAIMED - 82-80 last season. Has multiple high draft choices as prospects in the minors and is poised to breakout. Current owner is only leaving because he has to cut back on the number of worlds. This franchise has 11 arbitration-eligible players on the ML roster, so if you wanted to clean house and start over, you could.
NL East 2 - CLAIMED - 92-70 last season. Another division champion, It's won the division five of the past six seasons. This franchise also has many arbitration-eligible players on the ML roster, 9 (and 2 more at AAA, 1 at AA), so if you wanted to clean house and start over, you could. No player with salary over $7.0M and the 1 guy at $7.0M expires end of the season. This franchise has a lot of room to maneuver for a smart owner: sign some free agents and win now.
NL South - CLAIMED - 83-79 last season and just missed the playoffs. Has the great nickname "Grumpy Trumps." Payroll is only $70 Million so this franchise is a bargain. Certainly you can make your own political, or non-political, nickname but a good owner will make the playoffs with this franchise.
AL West - CLAIMED - 86-76 last season and the two previous seasons under three different owners. This franchise could be a winner if an owner would be dedicated to managing it.
AL East - CLAIMED - 102-60 last season. Yes, you read that correctly. Why someone walked away from this perennial winner is beyond comprehension, but his loss is your gain. Five division championships in the past six seasons and loads of talent make this team an instant contender.
AL West - CLAIMED - 95-67 last season. So, three seasons ago we removed an owner who failed the minimum win requirement, the next owner abandoned the franchise and was replaced midseason, then last season a new owner engineered a 40-game turnaround and won the division. Another head-scratcher as to why he's not returning ("too many worlds" he said), but this franchise, with many former high draft picks, is a certain winner this season for a smart owner.
NL North - CLAIMED 62-100 last season. This franchise is much better than the record indicates, afflicted last season by a one-and-done rookie owner. High draft pick adds incentive to a solid core of talent.
NL West - CLAIMED - 68-94 last season after going 105-57 the previous season. That's the difference between a smart owner and a not-so smart quitter. Which one are you? Has the 6th overall pick in the draft so you get to select your future All-Star.
