Our competitive but not combative world has some openings this season and we are looking for dedicated owners to join us. Available franchises below.

We are a private world with the following rules:
1) WIN PCT/REQ. Any team that accrues 108 losses (54-108, .333, or worse) in one season will be reviewed for tanking or neglect. Minimum win requirements for two consecutive seasons is 112 (112-212 record). Three seasons is 186 (185-301 record).

2) ROSTER/MINORS. All owners are required by ML game 9 of the regular season to have a minimum of 25 active players at each minor league level. Owners will be given up to 9 HBD cycles to address any minor league team falling below this requirement at any point during the season. This means 25 active players playing within their positional merits: position players not pitching, pitchers not playing the field, catchers not playing shortstop, and so on.

3. ABSENTEEISM. Owners should not go without logging in for over 5 days without prior warning. Owners are encouraged to find another owner (not one currently in the world) to watch over the team if an extended absence is required/expected. Absent and non-communicative owners after 14 days will be replaced.

4. CITIES: A team may change home cities no more than 2 times in any 5 season period. This does not apply to ownership changes.

5. CHAT BEHAVIOR: Zero tolerance for "bullying", name calling, personal attacks, and otherwise immature, disrespectful behavior either in the forums or the trade chats. An owner who is guilty of this more than once will be reviewed on a case by case basis with the end result possibly being not being invited back for the following season, or, if the violation is against the T.O.S. of WhatIfSports, IMMEDIATE dismissal. This world is too good for that stuff.

FRANCHISES AVAILABLE:

NL East 1 - CLAIMED - 82-80 last season. Has multiple high draft choices as prospects in the minors and is poised to breakout. Current owner is only leaving because he has to cut back on the number of worlds. This franchise has 11 arbitration-eligible players on the ML roster, so if you wanted to clean house and start over, you could.

NL East 2 - CLAIMED - 92-70 last season. Another division champion, It's won the division five of the past six seasons. This franchise also has many arbitration-eligible players on the ML roster, 9 (and 2 more at AAA, 1 at AA), so if you wanted to clean house and start over, you could. No player with salary over $7.0M and the 1 guy at $7.0M expires end of the season. This franchise has a lot of room to maneuver for a smart owner: sign some free agents and win now.

NL South - CLAIMED - 83-79 last season and just missed the playoffs. Has the great nickname "Grumpy Trumps." Payroll is only $70 Million so this franchise is a bargain. Certainly you can make your own political, or non-political, nickname but a good owner will make the playoffs with this franchise.

AL West - CLAIMED - 86-76 last season and the two previous seasons under three different owners. This franchise could be a winner if an owner would be dedicated to managing it.

AL East - CLAIMED - 102-60 last season. Yes, you read that correctly. Why someone walked away from this perennial winner is beyond comprehension, but his loss is your gain. Five division championships in the past six seasons and loads of talent make this team an instant contender.

AL West - CLAIMED - 95-67 last season. So, three seasons ago we removed an owner who failed the minimum win requirement, the next owner abandoned the franchise and was replaced midseason, then last season a new owner engineered a 40-game turnaround and won the division. Another head-scratcher as to why he's not returning ("too many worlds" he said), but this franchise, with many former high draft picks, is a certain winner this season for a smart owner.

NL North - CLAIMED 62-100 last season. This franchise is much better than the record indicates, afflicted last season by a one-and-done rookie owner. High draft pick adds incentive to a solid core of talent.

NL West - CLAIMED - 68-94 last season after going 105-57 the previous season. That's the difference between a smart owner and a not-so smart quitter. Which one are you? Has the 6th overall pick in the draft so you get to select your future All-Star.

Doug does a great job running this league. In my couple seasons I don't remember any arguments. It's competitive and Doug is quick to get a replacement or handle any issue. I've joined a couple other leagues and it feels like a good ol' boys club where people do funny deals and they just chuckle among themselves. Not with this league.

Thanks, Jimmy. We have some very strong franchises available which is quite rare in HBD. Usually worlds are begging people to take on disasters.

Somebody gonna take the AL east 102 win team?
4/22/2017 8:22 PM
Yes, I am surprised that franchise hasn't been snapped up immediately. Are people too intimidated to take on a team with high expectations?

Someone finally stepped up and took the 102-win franchise. Still more winning franchises available.
