Cleanup Pitchers: folded Topic

here's an interesting fact: In 1931, Indians pitcher Wes Farrell hit 9 homeruns in only 128 plate appearances, the same amount he gave up in more than 1200 batters faced.

Red Ruffing was another guy who could really hit. From 1928 through 1932 , he hit over .300 every single year.

I have a theme league starting up where I have players from the 1935 AL. My rotation includes Ruffing (.339/.363/.486) and Schoolboy Rowe (.312/.380/.459) ... But it's a DH league! So I won't get a chance to see what those guys can do to help themselves in the lineup. Dang.

Bump.

The league has folded for now. Too bad, because it would have generated the chance to use some different players and have teams that play more like the real ones...not the all star teams we usually get. I'm tired of using Schoolboy Rowe's short Phillies season; I want to use one of his great Tiger seasons, to be the ace of the staff that he really was. Same with Red Ruffing, Don Newcombe, Wes Ferrell, and so many others too. Not sure why it didn't generate more interest, but there are a lot of other themes out there right now so that might be part of it. Sigh...maybe I'll try it again during the hot stove season.

It was a good idea for sure

Good idea...Cap too low...

People like to play 'All-Star' teams...

Just my 2 cents worth...

agree, bring the idea back. It's one of the best I've seen lately and am a bit surprised it didn't gather steam.
