I've noticed this too, shoe. the SEC in Tark is has 4 top-10 teams but is ranked 9th as in conf RPI, and wasn't even in the top 10 until a day or two ago. we have 3 sim teams around 300 in RPI. that's actually an improvement from a couple seasons ago, as some human players nabbed a couple teams. at one point LSU was the only team in its division that was human-owned, and sbank was playing 10 conference games with sub-250 RPI. just brutal! i wish the sims were better at recruiting in HD3...seems like a step back to me. in HD2 it seemed pretty consistent that the sim teams had cycles where they were at least competitive every 3 or 4 seasons.
Yeah, I should amend to say it doesn't affect my gameplay during recruiting. It does affect gameplay in terms of RPI and seeding. Rutgers in Allen probably should have been at least sweet 16 the last 2 seasons, but seeding issues resulted in early exits. Only 2 humans in that division, and the other 4 are loaded with walkons. So I approach that the same way I have ever approached playing in low population conferences. Schedule tougher non-con and be sure to win what you can in conference.

I would also say those teams are really not bad to take over, if you're not bothered by a losing season or two. Their baseline prestige remains generally much better than the average mid-major, and multiple open scholarships should be enticing. I still say the big problem here is that they haven't fixed hiring yet, so a most people who might be interested in taking those jobs have to wait until it's a serious step down from their current position, and that doesn't make much sense.

Double-edged sword. On the one hand, people want full D1 conferences. On the other, "PAY YOUR DUES!!!" Lightening hiring standards to fill D1 conferences isn't PAYING YOUR DUES!!!!

That said, making the trip for D3 to D1 a bit quicker, but requiring success at D2/D3, would probably improve the game at D1.

or just being able to skip D2/D3 altogether for any D prestige D1 team.........

I do think there is a learning curve. Maybe 1 winning season in D3, 2 in D2 then D1-eligible. I want my participation trophy as much as the next guy but proving that you have a basic understanding of the game before playing at the highest level isn't a bad idea.

Losing sucks. And there's a really good chance that taking a SIM-recruited team as a n00b guarantees you'll lose. If you're doing it in D3, there's a chance the n00b says "Oh, I see why I have to have some winning seasons to move up."

What about if you could skip D2/D3 if you already have a D1 team in another world? So basically your resume isn't restricted to just 1 world. Experienced coaches would be more inclined to pick up another team if all they want to do is get to D1 but don't want to take 18 months to do it.

Nearly 1,000 more sims since 3.0 started, across all worlds? Yikes.

Don't worry, it has nothing to do with the changes.

Or lack of changes after launch.

D1 is trending up. People seem to want to play the D1 game... I bet a lot of coaches stuck in D2 would love to give WIS money to play D1 if it weren't such an onerous lift to get there. Revenue, seble, revenue.

Bingo. If increasing retention is truly the goal, fixing hiring, and relaxing the forced stratification is the cleanest, easiest way to do it. Let people get to the level they want to play sooner.

There are 200 fewer D1 users than a year ago...
