Operation FILL A WORLD Topic

I'd give a date to move up so there is a battle for teams and it puts a new light to the D1 world. If people don,t move at the same time, it will be unfair and some will get discouraged.

I think a realistic goal would be to add 10 a season for 5-10 seasons. If we did that we could be over 50%.

Assuming zero attrition.

Here are my thoughts:

OPERATION FILL-A-WORLD

GOAL: To create a world that has as many possible owners as we can in D1. The ultimate goal would be as close to 100% as possible but i think 162 human owners (or 50%) should be the first milestone.

WHEN IT STARTS: Rupp sign ups are on 6/5.

REASON WHY WE ARE DOING THIS:

1. Increased competition.
2. Curious about how it affects recruiting (and the impacts of this on D2).
3. Promote general interest in the game.
4. Effects multiple owners have on prestige levels

THINGS WE CAN TRACK IN THE FORUMS TO SELL THIS:

1. Total # of people who have joined each season
2. Total human owners
3. Number of "starred" recruits signed in D2
4. Number of people working their way up and coming to D1
5. Prestige level of mid majors
6. Personal stories of the recruiting experience

What do you guys think? I will post this in a poll in a different thread.

I think if we can get 30 people early the idea will gain some serious traction.

Momentum will be created. Whether it ends at 200+ in D1 remains to be seen. Another idea to create even more momentum would be to contact the D3 users in Rupp to see if they'll begin the process of moving up. Then, if D2 swells, contact the "stationary" users to see if they're interested. Getting 200 users in one world is already done. Getting them to move to D1 is the trick.

Odd potential side effect: Obviously zorzi doesn't want Rupp because he likes his D2 team. That's understandable. I wouldn't do Smith because we, as a group, decided to stay in the Little East and compete against one another. However, if D1 has 200+ users, is D2 a place to be in that world? Your strong team will be seriously weakened so would D2 just go ahead and move up?

There would also be some fallout for D3 in the same situation but, if the D2s moved up, it seems like the D3 teams would have unfettered access to all the top D2 players.
I'll also go back to this. If 200+ end up in D1, is D2 still viable? Seems like their pool of players will disappear.

well they'll have to recruit actual D2-level players...the result will impact everyone in D2 the same.

Except D3 will also be after D2 players.

So will it officially be Rupp for June 6th, or Naismith June 1st...?

The recruit pool is based on the number of open scholarships in the world, and always exceeds that number. There are always plenty of recruits. I read that from site staff.

Point being that twice as many human teams will be going after those recruits. There's no reason to expect an explosion of extra openings because the teams are ran by humans. Sure, humans are more likely to take a walk on or two but, at most, that's 200 more openings. The quality of players available to D2 will shrink. I'm certain of this.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Rupp.

I'm building a team at San Diego State in the Mountain West Conference there and welcome any one who wants to join me in making the Mountain West Conference #1 in Rupp.

Naismith!!!
5/18/2017 12:37 PM
Rupp has a huge jump on Naismith. 5 of us from Smith are already working towards D1. 3 others are going to join and chapel's only non-D1 team is in my D2 Rupp conference. That's 9 who are working/will work to D1. No other world has that big of a head start.
5/18/2017 12:41 PM
Just reserved a team in Rupp!
5/18/2017 12:51 PM
Very tempting...just not sure I want to add a 3rd team but I may...
