Well, my Citgo Kids team won 87 games, ended up four out of the wildcard. Since I was away from WIS for a long time, and hadn't participated in OLs for much longer than that, I will take it as a modest success. I wrote about the team a little already noting that Starling Marte 2016 performed brilliantly, and so did a late WW substitute, Bob Watson 1974. To note for future Fenway Park reference.
As to pitching, I am convinced - though it was an old insight really of Boogerlips - that the key to hitter's parks is to not worry too much about walks and focus on pitchers that don't give up hits. Strikeout pitchers even better arguably. I had a couple of Fenway teams way back when in OLs with various Clemens, Seaver type staffs and they did alright, and going with speed which was then still pretty cheap, and defense and doubles hitters did okay. This time around I went with non-K type pitchers mostly to see what would happen. Pretty good. Still no pennant in hand though from these experiments along the Green Monster.
Here is the staff from the latest attempt:
Sallee had to start 7 games, the rotation had perpetual fatigue problems, so I underestimated IP a bit. But those ERAs are not bad for a Fenway Park team, che no? (not Italian).
