LMAO! I played at Elon long ago when small schools had no shot at big time players. I'm well-aware of the location and challenges that go with it. Please see stated goal to fully understand UNC Asheville as a landing spot.

I doubt he could have. Even the D prestige schools out west aren't really available to coaches that are barely qualified for D1.

And that's not a swipe at mike, I was in the same boat last season when I took the job at Vermont.

Sorry, I bailed on this experiment....just really dont have the patience or "want to" to pay my dues to get to D1....am surprised I lasted as long as I did honestly.

Looking at my list, Portland and UC Irvine were the only two that met my parameters. UC Irvine was a poor choice as it had 5 humans in the Big West. Portland wasn't a bad option, only 3 users, but I didn't qualify. Here's the list of teams with no NT wins:

As you can see, most are NE or South.

I'm assuming you were a longshot at both of those (I was too with a better Rupp resume). I applied at both when I moved up but didn't get them. Had to settle on Vermont.

Not qualified for any Big West. Step backwards(that's what's showing now) in a couple of the WCC and longshot at Portland. IIRC, I was qualified for 26 and a longshot at 17.

I've had some decent success at UNC Ashville. If you do your homework, it can actually be a pretty good job. The fact that it's surrounded by a lot of Elite D-1 schools might be a good thing, as players tend to get overlooked. At lower D-1 levels, I would prefer to be at a school that is heavily surrounded by other schools, which equals more recruits to select from.

As I said, I was at Elon, admittedly 10 years ago, and went to the NT 3 out of 4 seasons before moving to LaSalle. Pretty sure that's where I had my only draftee as well.

D1 Rupp is at 113 after the season rollover and the dropping of coaches that didn't renew (and before adding coaches that signed up mid-season).
Job applications opened this morning.

update** D1 at 120 after the first day of hiring.

We are at 123 now which means we are up 20 coaches since June and almost 30 since April.

The other 3 from Smith should make the move next season. 150, here we come!!!
