The 70's is one of the most wildest decades of the NHL. The 70's had great goal scorers and some biggest, baddest goons the league has ever know. There were great teams and plenty of bad teams. From the Big Bad Bruins to the Broad Street Bullies. From the Montreal Canadiens Dynasty to ineptitude of the Washington Capitals. This era had it all and was a lot of fun. This league is a celebration of that era.
The Rules:
Only players from 1970-71 season through 1978-79 season are eligible.
Games Played % must be 70% or higher, you cannot use any season where a player played less than 70% of the games.
Combined PIMS for your team must be 2,500 or higher (SCUBS DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS THIS TOTAL!) In other words, add up the PIMs for your top 18 players (12 forwards and 6 defensemen), the total must be 2,500 or higher.
Combined total D-Rating must be 1,300 or lower ( SCRUBS DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS THIS TOTAL!). In other words, add up the D-Rating for your top 18 players (12 forwards and 6 defensemen), the total must be 1,300 or lower.
All of your top 18 players must have a salary over $2M! This should keep teams from filling up on the cheap, high PIM guys!
Scrubs should be under $500K and must have at least 200 PIMs. You shouldn't really need to use them, but if you do, they are not going to help you. Also will keep people from circumventing the Top 18 players rule.
No restrictions on goalies other than they must be from the years 1970-71 to 1978-79
Salary Cap: $120M
No WW, ML, Trades or Shootouts.
No long lasting injuries or suspensions
No Clones
Should be a pretty fun draft that will require some give and take. Definitely not a cookie cutter league and it should be pretty competitive and a lot of fun.
Once the league is up and the salary set, I can set up blacklists to help weed the unavailable players. For the most part it seems to work on my initial team, so that should help make the drafting easier, Just need to count you team totals in PIMS and D-ratings.
Also, please name our team after a 1970's Classic Rock Song
