Tricky Type D Pick Situation Topic

I drafted #1 overall and took a player who I knew would not sign before raising his demands. I offered him 100% of his demands. While the deal was on the table I promoted some players to help out fatigued pitching staffs and the player payroll budget was so tight that it actually cancelled my offer to the draft pick. I made a trade and re-offered 100% of his demands and then he eventually rejected it and raised his demands. I am hoping I am still good to get a Type D pick, but I am unsure since the first deal was cancelled (not withdrawn). Customer service said I "should be good", which wasn't quite reassuring enough for me. Kind of a weird situation, but I am hoping someone has run into this before and knows the answer. Thanks.
