JIM BUNNING TRIBUTE (Full - - Thanks!!) Topic

A Tribute to James Paul David Bunning

LOUISVILLE, Ky
. (AP) -- Former U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning, a Hall of Fame pitcher who parlayed his sports fame into a political career as an uncompromising advocate for conservative causes, has died May 26th. He was 85.

Bunning's family said the ex-senator and baseball great died late Friday of complications from a stroke suffered last October. Bunning was the patriarch of a large family that included his wife, Mary, and their nine children, 35 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Bunning won 224 games in a workman-like 17-year major-league career, mostly with the Detroit Tigers and the Philadelphia Phillies. The big right-hander, known for his intimidating mound presence, pitched the first perfect game in modern National League history and became the first pitcher after 1900 to throw no-hitters in both the American and National Leagues.

Known as a no-nonsense pitcher who threw hard and knocked batters down when necessary, Bunning belonged to a rare group of major league pitchers to throw a perfect game in the modern era. He became the first pitcher since Cy Young to record 100 wins and 1,000 strikeouts in both the American and National Leagues.

I remember watching the last couple of innings of his perfect game.

Clones? It's possible that the 2001 guy could be on a 1996 roster swell

No Clones. If you draft Player A to your roster from his 1996 season, you cannot have his 2001 year too.
Of course it is possible that another owner may also draft the same player you do from 1996 for his roster.
And,
You may end up with more than 5 Tigers or Phillies should you draft one of these from the other available draft categories.
However, if you do draft a player from one of these franchises say for instance you choose a Tiger as one of your two from 1931, you still need comply with the rules by drafting 5 Tigers to your roster . . . thus in this example, you'd have 6 Tigers.

Count me in. I remember watching the perfect game on TV,black and white of course, with my Dad. I think it was on Fathers Day. Life long Phillies fan and Bunning was always one of my favorite players.
